Almost certain most transfers are done in installments now, no matter what the fee (undisclosed)

Not sure about this. The bulk of the fees are usually paid up front, you don’t actually get transfers where the whole fee is spread over multiple years.

Don't think that's true at all mate. Quite the opposite.

In fact you can evidence this from the accounts of pretty much most teams and the amount of money they owe in outstanding transfer fees.

The exceptions are clubs like United and City who are cash rich, they do at times just pay up front.

Zat, I would love to get Antony but he's way out of our league. I'm a huge Ajax fan as well and I can tell you this about Antony:
- Ajax will only sell him for BIG money
- When he will leave, it will be for one of the big teams in Europe.

Before we start to identify potential new players, we should first get our gameplan ready. The last few months we totally lqck one and I have no clue what type of players Benitez is aiming for. Sure, we do need a new RB but do we want an offensive, ballplaying one or an outright defender? No idea... I really hope Benitez has a game plan. So far, I don't see it yet

Instant starting place
New stadium
Wages

My guess is that we could have got him for £35mil last summer, now perhaps £40-45mil.

Well, if we sold Digne and Mina I reckon we could get Mykolenko, Patterson and Antony.

We'd be looking good on FFP and probably just need to add a CB and a DM really.

That would be exciting, with the Mykolenko and Patterson links...but im expecting Benitez to really sign over the hill overpriced dross as well.

According to the Athletic, Patterson is our first choice but Centonze, Calvin Ramsay, and AMN are all on the list. Don’t know anything about 2 of those.

It really, really wasn't. It was obvious it was a load of nonsense because the stories said we were trying to send them James Rodriguez on loan. Porto came out put that story to bed very shortly after it emerged, it was never going to happen unless we sold players.

Given that he's been utterly mediocre (and that's being generous) for his entire career at Utd, and he only put effort in at WHU because it was a loan therefore he was trying to land a big contract, can I ask are you suggesting we:

1) loan him until the summer; or
2) buy him outright.

Clue: one of these choices is deranged.
