As I said to Blue rover, my question was genuine curiosity. I'd never heard it before.

It sounded more like a 'witty' observation by some writer rather than an actual saying.

It originates in the late 1950's and is attributed to the designer of the mini - I remember my former boss saying it once and thinking it was too witty and insightful for him so googled it.

He tried blagging it as his own, the saying, not the design of the mini.

If the aim is to mock committees, it's not particularly insightful when you scratch the surface. Camels are far more efficient than horses in the areas where they're found.

By the time I was back at my desk I was thinking how it doesn't really stand up for the reasons you say.

In happier times I would ask @Daveysgingerlovechild to start a new thread, camels or horses, with a poll. But, I'll leave it for now.

Instead, back on topic, are these links to Coutinho, Barkley genuine or their camps trying to generate some interest? For what it's worth, I wouldn't want either of them here.
