The Red Echo stating we want a wide player and CM this window.

Be happy with that but really need a commanding CB - Mina can't be relied on and Holgate/Keane are too flaky.

Godfrey needs a leader alongside him.

The wide player one is a baffling take - for the first time in ages, we really don't need a fast wide player.

A CM is the last "must buy" signing for this window - the rest of this season should be given to Branthwaite to stake his claim; I don't think he will let us down and I can see Keane paying the price ultimately.

Sadly this is true. I wouldn’t be gutted if he came in, because I want to see the back of Delph and to a lesser extent Gomes and Davies. Gbamin never really stood a chance. But I would like to be pleasantly surprised by us going for someone like Zakaria instead.

Zakaria will be the next player we miss out on to a "bigger" club.

Do not to knock Gordon down the pecking order, we have four wingers and have more important areas to fill, a commanding centre half and a defensive mid.

They're exactly the type of signings we should be making if they're good it's as simple as that. We have a habit of getting very excited about things without knowing whether its a good thing or not. We've signed other players in this sort of group before and it hasn't worked out so its not a new thing really we just need to hope these ones work better.
Even if they aren't good the downside is reduced by signing younger players. And since no club is perfect and only signs good players you have to factor in that downside.

We still need an attacker of some sort. We play 4-2-3-1. Realistically Gray, Townsend, Gordon, DCL and Richarlison are good enough for those 4 positions. Otherwise it is down to Iwobi or Rondon you see. A winger / playmaker is needed as well

Tend to agree I suppose it depends what "winger" means, does it mean a player who can play wide or as a ten..?.. Then again the Echo is often wrong

Young then, and preferably left footed.

Tbh though if Richarlison is being played as a 2nd striker behind DCL then its only really Gray who's proven quality at this stage.

Gordon is improving but not the finished article and Townsend is decent but inconsistent.

Could do with a top drawer RW with Gordon/Townie as options from the bench and Iwobi booted to Tranmere.

Would rather a CM & CB this window though and save the wide player until the summer.
