We still need an attacker of some sort. We play 4-2-3-1. Realistically Gray, Townsend, Gordon, DCL and Richarlison are good enough for those 4 positions. Otherwise it is down to Iwobi or Rondon you see. A winger / playmaker is needed as well

can't do it all in one window, right now we are getting ripped apart in the middle and at the back. Do feel when they are all fit ( if ever) we have enough up front to get by.

Longstaff would be our 2nd or 3rd best mid.
Probably right this. I don't think he's coming in to start games either as we play a 2 in MF usually. I can't see him displacing Doucoure or Allan however Allan is probably due to get injured soon so the move makes sense if its on the cheap

Tbh though if Richarlison is being played as a 2nd striker behind DCL then its only really Gray who's proven quality at this stage.

Gordon is improving but not the finished article and Townsend is decent but inconsistent.

Could do with a top drawer RW with Gordon/Townie as options from the bench and Iwobi booted to Tranmere.

Would rather a CM & CB this window though and save the wide player until the summer.
If we get another winger, Gordon’s path is blocked. I’m not sure it is a great message.

Refreshing to get a couple of deals done early. Feel like it could be a long and frustrating wait now though. Can't see it being anything other than a Longstaff type signing late after we've realised other options are too pricy.

Even if they aren't good the downside is reduced by signing younger players. And since no club is perfect and only signs good players you have to factor in that downside.
Yes I’ve already clarified that I’m talking about people deciding these players are young and hungry but claiming that the numerous other people we’ve signed of similar ages weren’t or aren’t. If the two of them are crap then the same people saying it’s great to sign young hungry players will be moaning about more wasted money this time next year and they might even be doing it from the championship.
