Sort of attitude that see's our players going through the motions all too often tbh mate.

Competition for places keeps players on their toes and pushes those on the bench to improve and take their chances when opportunities arise.
It’s a balance. He is starting to find his feet.
There is also Townsend, Gray and Richarlison for those two places so there is competition. I think if we spend big money on a player they will have to play. It will be at Gordon’s expense. It would seem a waste to me when he is starting to show real form.

Richarlison isn't a wide player under Benitez mate and Iwobi is a waste of space.

We have Gray, Gordon & Townsend and one of those has gone off the boil and the other is still a young lad developing.

If the club has real aims long term of fighting for europe/trophies we need depth in quality to rotate/cover injuries on multiple fronts.

Yes I’ve already clarified that I’m talking about people deciding these players are young and hungry but claiming that the numerous other people we’ve signed of similar ages weren’t or aren’t. If the two of them are crap then the same people saying it’s great to sign young hungry players will be moaning about more wasted money this time next year and they might even be doing it from the championship.
I won't be moaning if we have a real, sustainable strategy even if it fails to work every single time.

We have Townsend, Gray, Gordon and Richarlison who can do a job on the wing. For the forward roles we have DCL, Richarlison and Rondon (Benitez will use him), plus Simms and Dobbin coming through.

If you recruit a player he will get used ahead of Gordon, in the same way Rondon is used ahead of Simms or Dobbin. The result of Rondon blocking a lace is that Dobbin will move on. Blocking another good young player doesn’t make sense to me, particularly when CM and CB need attention.
