Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Lots of people are proposing premier league players on loan. Now that we have signed El Ghazi on loan, under premier league rules, we're not allowed to sign another PL player on loan this window, are we? I may well be wrong, I find the rules a bit convoluted at times.

If DCL moves it would be in the summer.

The £60mil fee seems very low to me as he has a contract till 2025.

There seems to be a lack or top level strikers these days. Looking at both Italy and English leagues...

Id be looking at £80-100mil for him and the same for Richarlison.

But its not easy to pinpoint replacements...
Loads of top strikers out there!

Brereton Diaz
Darwin Nunes
Alexander Isak
Andre Silva
Gabriel Barbosa

80-100 ahhahahaa mate you are so far off it it's unreal.

That vlahovic from fiorentina is being touted at 58m, he's younger and scored a lot more than DCL has over the last couple of years.

I know who I'd rather have if I was a "top" club

English clubs pay a premium for English players. And DCL is under a long contract, so we don't need to accept lowball bids for him once Tosun, Delph, Sigurdsson & the like fall off the payroll in the summer.

There's no reason to sell DCL for £60m this summer. Zero.

Ferdinand, Yeboah, Henry, Yakubu, Cantona, Shearer, Van Persie, Cole, Yorke, Bergkamp, Wright...

...theres been a lot of top class centre forwards in the premier league.

Now we have:
City: False 9
Chelsea: Lukaku not doing great
United: Ronaldo close to retirement
RS: Firminho probably replaced
Vardy: Close to retirement
Kane: On his last legs

Times have changed and centre forwards who can score 15-20 goals in a mid-table team are highly prized assets.

Were in an era where 'wide forwards' seem to be the focal point of goals.

DCL (and Vlahovic) are fairly unique players thesedays and while one has done well for Fiorentina and has 18months on his contract...the other has premier league experience and is English.

£80mil+

Go and have a proper look at him, he could be a perfect replacement for Richarlison if he does go at some point.

Tbh Ive been thinking similar but I could see him playing centre forward which was his position in Brazil.

I would really love it if we added more 'quality' Brazilian players.

Signing another right back this month would be absolutely crazy. That would give us 4 senior players who are out and out right backs, plus Holgate and Godfrey who can cover there. If Patterson wasn't able to come in and play this season then he shouldn't have been signed, we can't be wasting time and money getting in two right backs in January in the middle of a relegation battle.

I was thinking of an Nkounkou type signing or someone like Ramsay at Aberdeen for £3-5mil.

Disagree about Patterson (and Mykolenko) needing to play (well) this season. Both signed in Jan window, young and need time to adapt...i think they'll do fine for the rest of the season and kick on after preseason.

If we play Coleman (or Kenny) then its suicide. Likewise playing Holgate/Godfrey at full back for any length of time hampers us.

If we had signed Patterson and Ramsay at the same time id have been pretty chuffed.

A young player on a small fee makes sense to me.

The worry would be has this come from pereira? So would it more likely be under his recommendation.

We were linked to him when he was in Beijing...think it was summer 2020.

I think the manager will be here by Friday.

Agents will be offering everyone so one step at a time.

Hopefully we bring in manager who plays 3 in midfield (4-3-3/4-3-2-1/5-3-2) then we can start looking at loans:

"Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club."

So we can loan ONE more player from a Premier League team and TWO from clubs overseas.

There will be activity but first let's sort the managerial situation.

Diaz: Havent seen him
Nunes: Has been used wide left this season
Isak: Doesnt score enough + runs the channels
Silva: Good in Portugal/Germany but flopped in Italy and Spain
Barbosa: Flopped in Italy...brilliant in Brazil.

Most likely to have more attractive offers

Unlikely imo.

One thing to also note (something im bewildered why we havent) is that we can also loan players with guaranteed buy clauses.

This could mean an 18month loan with a guarantee to sign the player after the loan is completed.

Italian clubs do it a fair amount and it works well for FFP purposes.

You've completely lost me here. You agree that our existing right back options are terrible, but think it's fine if the right back we've signed because of that fact either doesn't play or doesn't play well? While we're in the midst of a relegation battle?

Signing another young right back for the first team would be daft too, there wouldn't be enough games for them both to develop properly. Try to offload Coleman and Kenny in the summer and see if we can pick up a half decent experienced player on a free or cheap to be an option there.
