@catcherintherye we hoping for a juicy USM Naming Rights deal for BMD to be announced at the next agm to help us spend spend spend this coming summer mate?

I dont think thats a good idea.

Better for us if we use the summer window to move players out, bring in some cost-effective younger signings and 2 high calibre loans.

Any commercial deals would be better served being announced around the summer 2023 window.

Then we could have 3 seasons of spending in line with the stadium opening.

I imagine any naming rights will be over a set period mate - im sure the Daily Mail mentioned Usmanov was lining up a £200 million deal over 5-10 years.

So as we know with how FFP works that £20-40 million a season hitting the accounts every year would benefit us greatly.

I agree but one thing we need to do as a club is not just spend cash because we've got it. We should always be looking for good loans and cheap young players from lower/foreign leagues. The problem we've had is spending cash just because we could which is one of the reasons why we are in the crap at the moment. Hopefully when lampard takes over there might actually be more use of youth rather than playing them when there's no other option like recent history.

Not sure if this is the right thread, as it's more summer orientated, but do wonder if we will try to benefit from the connections Lampard has to Chelsea, but on a loan perspective of helping to develop players, but also from signing good young players and also talented youth players that their coaches may know.

So I'll stick a few names out there I like. Obviously we won't sign all, or even most, but there are more who I would be happy to see.

Dujon Sterling. I believe he is out of contract at the end of the season, Just turned 22 and getting good experience in the championship. 6 ft 1 right back, but can fill in at centre half. On a free with a tribunal fee at the end, to me would be a perfect option with Kenny likely leaving.

Other young up and coming players. Broja/Colwill. I think both of these on permanents (or if we can't get the loans below, maybe one on loan) would be really smart buys. Colwill is 19 and has done very well in the championship, while Brojo has done well for Southampton. They fit the template of Lampard working with Mount, Abraham, Tomori, James etc when he first started working with them. I'd be happy with either arriving on a permanent.

Ideal Loans- Gallagher/Gilmour would be a great loan option for us. I think a permanent will be too pricey, but a season on loan for either would be great. You'd probably prioritise Gallagher as he seems a bit more advanced.

Dreamworld- Callum Hudson Odoi. If we could get him in on loan, I think it would be brilliant. No idea if Chelsea would allow it, but giving him to Lampard to smooth over for a year could work.

Left field names: Harvey Vale is very highly rated there. I believe he has a year on his contract. If he could but pulled out, or other younger players, that would be quite a coup. Hopefully Lampard and the potential coaches may know 1 or 2 that we can begin to pull across.

I would try to avoid some of the more senior names if we can, the Barkleys etc. Maybe Loftus Cheek as an exception, but not wholly convinced Lampard played him much?

If we look beyond our first eleven with the assumption that we'll be playing 433. I think it makes sense to build a 'second team' of u21 players who can be developed and push the 'first eleven'.

Tyrer
??? ??? Branthwaite Nkounkou
???
??? Onyango
Dobbin ??? Gordon

Players like Welch as a 4th choice centre back and also Warrington as a backup defensive midfielder could be pushed up.

Colwill is actually still only 18, turning 19 end of Feb. He would be quite a coup if we could bring him in. Possibly Branthwaite and him could form a partnership and be our pairing long term.

The one i would love to sign is Conor Gallagher. Would he get in the Chelsea team ahead of Mount or Havertz at this stage? I dont think so.

I wonder what Chelsea may value him at...if we sold Richarlison to PSG for say, £80mil...

Would that be enough for Gallagher, Colwill and Broja ?

I would hope that the naming rights deal would be a large lump sum and the rest on the drip.

A big initial payment would allow us to bring in top quality to sprinkle on top of a younger team. The focus should be on the young team building until summer 2023.

Those Chelsea youngsters are something else. There will be players like that from the top sides youth teams and also lower league guys like Branthwaite.

If Lampard has us playing a more attacking, attractive style then with his name as well it should immediately make us more appealing.

As i posted in my last message, id like to see us have a 2nd 11 within the first team comprised of u21s. High potential young players could push our starting 11 to perform.

Simply moving out the deadwood players in our first team would free up huge wages which would dwarf the amount needed to invest.
