Wasn’t the sticking point with Diaz that James wouldn’t move to Porto as part of the deal
I don’t think Diaz to us was ever close to being a real thing. Would’ve taken 30-40 million last summer and if we’d had the ability to spend that then or now it would’ve been spent on someone else by now.

I think any interest we had was probably only as a contingency plan had Mbappe gone to Real late in the window and PSG then come in for Richy. Then a deal for Diaz would’ve been possible.

i think we either need to look at DMs on the periphery of a top PL club like Skipp from spurs (though I think he’s played more recently) or someone from abroad in a league that’s struggling financially, there’s a few names I’ve seen highly rated in France like Kamara from Marseille I think it is.

As much as I’d love to see Gana come back, I can’t see PSG letting him go as he seems to play a fair bit for them

Donny can play box to box or in a similar role to Mason mount.

Donny is a fighter. He presses really strong and he is not lightweight at all like Klassen was.

Brands had some good ideas, not all of his players he wanted would of been terrible. Considering he wasn't interested in bringing in many Dutch players, but wanted Donny says alot.

Yeah he probably can in the Dutch league but this is the Premier league and he looks like hes way to slow to be effective in pressing or being box to box.

From what I remember of him in the season where ajax got to the semi's he seemed to be at his best at the tip of a 3 man midfield playing between the lines and linking up with de Jong and tadic.

I dont think brand trying to bring him on loan actually says anything. Apart from united wasted £40m on a squad player they didn't need and we were desperately trying to bring in reinforcements for as cheap as possible.

Lad in work is a man u fan and he reckons they have one of the worst midfields in the league and this kid has played 68 minutes in the prem this season. Personally I think that says alot.

Would love Gana back on loan. I also would not rule out a loan for an LB

Depends how the deal was structured could of been €30 plus james with €10m up front which would of been less then james wages for this season.

So the deal would of been quite achievable.

The point I the from this is we need to stop buying overpaid players approaching the end of their careers who see everton as a step down and bring in top young talents with the idea of progressing them and selling them on, to then use that sales money to bring in more top young talents and a better infrastructure to the club while cultivating a ethos/identity for the team.

DVB is a good loan. Definitely need another mobile midfielder, Gbamin or Onyango are unknown quantities not what you need in a battle. Allan/Gomes/DVB is one slow(if technical) midfield.

I know he's injured but I really hope that Lampard coming in means the damage that was done to Davies (in terms of the sideways passing and general crapness coached into him ) is reversed and he can go back to the player we saw vs City that time.

Davies can play and I much prefer when he's in our team in a midfield 3. No idea how bad his injury is though.

We dont have any loans left mate so I think we need to prioritise filling the midfield with competent players who can get across the pitch.

If we decide that vitaly isn’t up to scratch yet then I’d go with Godfrey there as he has been solid when there in the main
