Allan could easily play dm in a three. Onyango will eventually fill that role probably and even Holgate could play there... maybe it is a role more suited to him than centre back.

For me, we have just not been creative further up the field, too predictable and we just don't look like creating chances never mind scoring.

err... we don't play expansive football either....

Lampard seemed to at Derby and Chelsea...

He also played in a similar position to Alli.

I dont believe it mate, there is a problem with him im certain of it. I would have taken the Mourinho thing, but Conte.....makes me thing there is a problem. There is also nobody else in world football interested in him. Bar us in a relegation fight.

If Levy is selling given Allis profile - there is a problem.

My opinion mind.

We dont know either way...but, were talking about a player that could be an England international getting us 10+ goals a season if Lampard gets his head sorted.

Change of manager, scenery and a confidence boost may see a new player.

Hasnt he been used as a central midfielder this season, not sure Conte's system suits him perhaps?

At the risk of making excuses for him, Mourinho didnt play 'expansive' attacking football and then Nuno was a disaster.

So for the 3 of them there could be logical reasons why hes not performed.

Mourinho also joined Spurs in 2019 which coincides with when Alli was last capped by England.

…I agree, it’s important to consider any potential signings fitting into the system Lampard usually plays.

He mentioned in his interview;

- having possession and being comfortable in possession
- applying pressure in the top third
- being aggressive when the opposition have the ball

Total contrast from Benitez for this group of players.

Allan has only ever played as a DM under Ancelotti...while at Napoli his performances dropped off compared to the season before.

Levy has a player on £150k pw that the manager doesnt even put in his matchday squad. If he prices him out of a move it will cost Spurs about £10m just to have him sat at home. May as well get a few million and him off the wage bill.
I can see levy preferring a loan to Palace. Wages covered and a chance for him to raise his stock playing regular games, followed by a summer move for more cash.

All makes sense...it looks like we'll be more attacking now under Lampard and play on the front foot.

Funnily enough, thats when weve been at our best all season...but usually when were 1 or 2 down by then.

A refreshing change.

What do you think about Alli in the attacking midfield role for us behind say, Richarlison, DCL, Gray ?

I think we will lack that one major creator in the team to get the best out of all of them.

Its opinions, but im basing mine on some trophy laden managers making a call on him, while probably one of the shrewdest chairman in transfers also making the call. I smell a rat here is my take.

Look weve been here before, big name, big reputation, drop down from a CL club and do poorly here on a big wage and we cant shift them.

Obviously if we sign him i hope you are right, but red flags all over the show for me and given our deficiencies in the transfer market this deal gives me the jitters.

Would much rather throw money at the kid at Fulham and or Brennen Johnson.

They don't play well together, but i'm not really sure what you mean with the rest of it. For me, another striker is something we should have been looking at every window for the last however many years, but we've just never done it. Some teams have 5 or 6 strikers but we seem determined to just stick with 1, and if he gets injured or is out of form we either keep playing him anyway or rejig the entire team to put someone else there.
100% we should have bought another striker.

What I mean is if Richy gets injured then we finally have players to step in with Gray, Gordon, El Ghazi etc. so I’m fine with the depth.

We need a striker I agree. DCL is too one dimensional for me and dictates the way we play too much
