Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

It’s not as simple as just terminating the loan, both the loan club and parent club have to be in full agreement to do so, like Forest and West Ham did this morning for Ward-Prowse
Potter allegedly wants to use him given their injuries.

Bit weird though. Do we have insurance that covers Broja’s salary. If we sent him back do Chelsea have insurance to cover his salary. I am surprised as if they want to sell him in summer, they should want to be in full charge of his rehab - he is their saleable asset. Leaving him in the capable hands of our medical staff seems………..risky.

Amazed we haven’t ended up with KDH though. Seemed like a good move for him and a body for us.

Id have had Willian here. The fact you're even bringing up him tells its own story. Your other option is just pie in the sky some kid maybe. Basically you dont know.
The january window is mostly clubs trying to dump players not cutting it. Sky have glammed it up to something like a hollywood gala night. The closed season is where the real business happens.
Like said. Your mate Dyche leaving the building in january was better than 10 new signings.
We did our business.

I’ve not spent months since the close of the summer window drawing up targets which is what our recruitment team should have been doing. Are you saying there’s not a single player that we could have got through the door even on loan that would improve this squad? Just because I haven’t named him doesn’t mean the deals aren’t out there. We’re talking about a loan fee and some wages vs our prem future and we’ve not executed. Things are looking good now but a few result don’t go our way or we pick up a few injuries and we could start looking very very stupid.

Said it Saturday. The 3 wins in a row without question changed things re transfers
I believe you're correct , we've made a significant progress in our performances but the competition has to be fully weighed as well , a profusely injured with spurs, a solid showinh but we were also fortunate with penalty at Brighton and a Leicester who has one of the worst defences in the league so it could be deceptive

You'd always like more, but with 3 quick wins in the bank, nobody at TGG or FF will be crying their eyes out thinking that's it - we're doomed, championship here we come, woe is me, waily, waily, waily.

Especially with PSR,

Some of you need to realise January transfer window hype just isn't a thing anymore. If we get alcaraz then that's a good window in my opinion. We get a good young player with potential. We also have irigbounam coming back into what is currently a winning side. We have strength everywhere but the wings and up top but have mcneil coming back there too.

If we were 1 point off safety it looks different but this team has more than enough to safely stay up and go into the summer in a stronger position. Does put pressure on beto somewhat but could do him some good. If he gets injured then Keano goes up front
I agree with this completely. Let’s take this into perspective guys. We need to be spending smartly if we want the long term ambitions of this club to be fulfilled. As you all know, the January transfer window is where a lot of over-valued and expensive things get done. We were guilty of a few panicked buys that became highly detrimental to the financial success of the club in the long term. Think Tosun and Walcott. I don’t believe that we will be in a relegation dogfight this season as we did the last couple of seasons. To me this season is about building for the next and our longer term goals. There’s no need to make a few panic buys unless it’s a person that we really want and in the form of a young player like Alacarez with good sell on values.

I know we could have done better with loans and there is a lot of talk about bringing experienced players such as Willian for cover on the cheap. But rather than having a quick and cheap stop gap solutions I rather see how our squad evolves to adapt to missing of key players on the pitch, in whatever roles that may be. This could mean a change in formations or players playing in different roles. We could plug a Willian on the pitch as one solution to having Lindstrom or God forbid, Ndiaye injured, but another option is to change our shape and tactics a little suit the weather of the day. In the long term, the latter will bode well for the maturity and unity of our core squad, rather than having a 38 year old plug the hole and move on after a couple of months (God forbid as well, that he becomes a permanent fixture!)

It’s not a bad window Blues. Let’s get behind the team. I know the players can step up if we got their backs. Go Blues.

Maybe sitting on our hands helps the PSR situation and we can hang on to Branthwaite.
Taking a huge gamble on pl survival...you can say goodbye to Branthwaite and many others if we end up relegated. People probably thinks it will not happen, but there are still plenty of games to play

Villa (rightly) complaining that they are restricted by PSR in trying to compete towards the top of the PL and in Europe for a while now.

One over exuberant Saudi purchase later and they can demolish the window, adding to an already good squad.

Seems very unbalanced when the richest club in the world can’t buy anything and will be forced to sell Isak in order to invest.

Great for Villa. No one’s buying Duran for that in Europe though. Such a huge impact on the league and whichever club can capitalise.
