Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Any idea when the Cunha ban will be announced? Could be available at a cut price fee with them needing to sign a new defence & having PSR issues.

If he was banned for the season and available at £30-40mil then he'd be worth considering for us -- take us up a gear next season.

I dunno about all, sure there might have been a glimmer of hope, but the same PSR issues exist sadly.

Moshiri has still been putting in the 35m a year,
which is all hes allowed to do, hopefully TFG can improve the incomings and the Stadium will give us a little bump, coupled with favourable interest rates on the loans, yes, the Summer should be much better.

Still some scope to do a deal or 2 in the window tho.
They do, however these were exacerbated by the ownership structure of the stadium (not a separate company), interest rates for this and other debt.

With the new owners managing the debt more sensibly and with the proposed income from the new stadium, there will be far more leeway in the future.

In this window, I think as you suggest people need to be pragmatic and realise a) we're still financially constrained, and b) there needs to be a reshuffle with staff.

You'd hope they would be able to bring in a player or two, but I think this be pushed by PR (TFG needing to be seen to do something) rather than long-term planning.

Dont you think they will leverage over the players contracts seeing as they know revenues will increase?

If we have £10mil then it may become £50mil across a 5 year contract.

Can't say I want somebody who downs tools when it gets tough and assaults random backroom staff in the back of the head but maybe that's just me?

I think we all believed new owners would change things quickly. Maybe in the summer.
Anyone who put any thought into what would happen when TFG took over would have understood that obvious change would be gradual.

I think we will see a little money spent in January but not much and only if the right players are available.

At least now we no longer carry expensive players who were draining the club financially and we have even gone to the other extreme where in the summer we could have little more than a dozen experienced players still under contract.

….does he down tools? Never realised that. The assault is unpleasant but lots of very good players have that unpleasant edge about them and he looks a very good player to me. I can’t see Wolves wanting to sell and the players ambition could be higher.

We can’t sign a player for £30-40m ffs 😂 please start getting a grip on reality

Shearer, Vieira, Keane, Ferguson...

...when the seagulls follow the trawler.
None of those attacked staff though. All physical on the pitch. Ferguson obvs nutted McStay, paid the price but retained enough nasty to be uber competitive and use to his advantage. Cantona was just Cantona. What Cunha did was stupid but went too far. Also not in the same league as any of those you mentioned. Dark arts is one thing. Being a knob is another.

Here's what I think: they've made a big deal coming in about stabilising the club financially but pointed at PSR in a very obvious way to caution fans about spending.

That strategy wont be changing too soon.
