Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Prolific. Kev frantically seeing if we can send Harrison back to free up a loan spot….

What a waste. Seen him play for City in person a few times and his sole job is to stand on the touchline to force the full back out of the box. And if he gets the ball, to slowly dribble, backing the scared full back into the box, then as soon as the double team arrives lay it softly back to the LB or midfielder to switch the play quickly. And repeat. Looks bored senseless.

No goals in a year you say? Sounds like a perfect fit.

Agreed. Has to be a top up imo for Barnes/Hall to entice Newcastle to sell -- then both teams benefit.

I'd be disappointed with Longstaff. The only caveat as someone posted earlier is if the money enabled us to bring in top young quality in crucial areas.

Even then wed need to give Longstaff a decent wage and it would be frustrating.
If we're using DCL as a top up the fee needs to reflect his value. The 15m is inflated and only works if we're buying someone for a similarly inflated fee.

His hands are tied lad! Not his fault lad! Imagine zero accountability for your job?
The only question mark for me is O’Brien, but I’m pretty sure some shenanigans went on with Textor and the payment structure.

The club is an absolute basket case, he’s robbing Peter to pay Paul and just about keeping us competitive. I think he deserves a crack at it where he can sign his first/second choice players. If he fails, bin him.

But surely anyone reasonable can see he didn’t want to sign; Harrison, Beto, Mangala, Young, Gana, Lindstrom. Needs must to actually have enough players on the pitch.

I just don't know if a DOF structure actually suits us, as whoever we seem to choose, nothing ever seems to be their fault.

Biggest concern for me is thinking Mykolenko is good enough. Spending money on Maupay and Beto and then persisting with DCL anyway. Then going for Gnonto, then Philogene and then ending up signing Lindstrom who supposedly isn't a winger anyway.

That's before you even look at the dough he dropped on a fourth choice centre half.

Not previously as the DOF is just a glorified scout.

A true DOF is responsible for all the signings and appointing the manager. Also the style of play implemented by said manager.

None of ours have done any of this. I’m sure Thelwell wrote a book on 3-5-2, yet we have a manager whose bread and butter is 4-4-2. It’s just another big Moshiri mistake. Brands may have done fantastic work had he been given a proper license to do his job.

There’s a lot right about what you say about him, he has gone stale and I don’t think he has had the easiest of times with injuries which have taken a toll.

I agree he is a premier league standard striker and stronger than he is showing us, I think he’s already gone in his head. Would I be surprised him bang in 10 to 15 in another team?? No I think he has that in his locker.

It’s time for him to move on for everyone’s sake including his own, I think he will play with a lot less pressure somewhere else.

I think when you say 20+ a season it maybe seems a stretch for a guy who has had his challenges and who people see spurn some clear cut chances.
If we used him in the same way Forest use Wood, then we'd see a lot more goals from him.

But you're right, Everton at the moment aren't doing him any favours

Evan Ferguson on loan?
If dcl is sold, that alone should allow us to sign ferguson permanently as long as TFG is prepared to put the money on the table. He would probably cost around 55 millions. If we sell dcl and replace him with a loan, it means that again we are working with our hands tied behind our back.
