Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Someone and I know I'm going back the Yak, Lukaku there are probably better examples, just someone who scores regularly a poacher. As good as this lad looks he doesn't strike me as a poacher. Maybe I've missed it mate, what is his scoring rate, if it's a 1 in 3 fair enough.
He’s not really been in the team for them this season but for the last 2 seasons he seemed to score at a fairly decent lick. 6 goals in 27 last season and 6 goals in 19 the year before.

On a side note, I hate the idea of us having a ‘poacher’ striker - we need movement and pace. That’s the direct the league is going. We’ve been hamstrung by having such a niche/one dimensional striker for years and having to build a team around one guy.

Can't remember the last time we had a poacher in our team to be honest, we always seem to go for the big, hold up striker, Maupay apart. We definitely need more goals in the team that's been my whole point.

Relegation threatened club?

Lets do some analysis on when Everton were last relegated and see what the pattern is shall we?

Were halfway through a season. Relegation threatened is Southampton.

Bringing in quality young players is exactly the approach the club should take.

Dibling and Armstrong look like Yamal and Messi compared to Harrison.

Rigg vs Doucoure and Mangala?

Theyre upgrades...as is Diarra and seemingly this Wesley Franca character.
Let’s do some analysis on where we are in the league and all of our underlying numbers shall we?!

History doesn’t keep a club up.

Quality young players doesn’t mean teenagers when we’re fighting relegation. It means 21-26 and perfectly capable now. Clearly talented but absolutely unreasonable to expect them to drag us out.

Exactly! We’ve built the team around one type of striker because his skill set was so specific - it meant every other striker had to be a similar profile to make it work. And when we deviated to a completely different type of striker, it was a disaster.

I’d sell Dom this window if we could work out a deal, 100%. They probably won’t because of Chermiti’s phantom injury.

Pace and movement is what gets you goals now, plus a manager who lets you attack.

I see him scoring those types of goals, but tbf he's been in and out of the Brighton team and his stats for last season are like a goal every 2.5 matches, minutes-wise - but only 6 goals in total in 27 appearances. This season again patchy record with 1 goal scored in 12 apps but only 220 minutes.

Can someone else get more out of him is the question.

Broja will almost certainly return to Chelsea for treatment, yeah we may have to cover his wages (unsure on that) but also it will free up a loan spot for a domestic loan to come in...

Richarlison returning maybe.... Due back next week from his hammy injury.

If your gonna bring Moyes back because of knowing the club and being up for the fight, then Richy if he stays fit is one player you can 💯 guarantee would be up for it and contribute some goals too.

Assuming it is gonna be Moyes which looks likely, almost certain to see at least one fullback come in as he's always liked attacking ones and we have zero of them.

Also prepare to see a big grock centre mid in as Moyes always liked one of those too.

Players who'll be edit from Moyes btw.
O'Brien - loves a big physical CB.
Lindstrom - he'll get used more like Osman was under Moyes. Ndiaye, he'll have an overlapping fullback if he stays out left.
Players who'll lose out, Mykolenko - crap going forwards, Doucoure - can't control a ball, all right backs - none can do what Moyes will want from them.

Interesting post mate, but I have a feeling Patterson may be favoured by Moyes.

Agree on Broja too, get another loan in. Ideally sort Mangala out too on a permanent to get another loan in there

I'd hope that as Broja was being lifted onto the stretcher, Thelwell was already emailing the receipt back to Chelsea and on the blower to Brighton to get Ferguson in to replace him.
