Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I don't know if he's being badly held back. Remember the fuss about how Pep handled the introduction of Foden and how he needed to leave to get game time, that turned out alright, almost like Pep knew what he was doing ,

Yeah but the story is that Mcatee wants to leave to play regularly, thing is mate foden at 19 was already playing twenty odd league games a season for city, Mcatee is 22 already and been loaned out to Sheffield united the prior two seasons.

I don’t think City are letting him go with all their injuries unless it’s for FFP reasons.

Depends if the player asks to go, even with all cities injuries he's hardly played any league minutes this season mate. In general Guardiola has always had the attitude of letting players move on if they ask over not enough game time

How many stories have there been in the Dyche era about players linked not wanting to play for Dyche and opting to go elsewhere? The latest was Philogene, where people scoffed at the notion that he would choose Ipswich over Everton, but all reports said it was virtually a done deal, and Everton was out of the running because he didn't want to play in a Dyche system. I reckon that also factored into the sacking, and it's interesting that the Ipswich move that got the "here we go!" treatment 2 days ago with a medical yesterday is suddenly stalled.

not for 21mill

Just discussing this earlier. The only thing I'd say is that it may depend on bit on how highly we rate Armstrong.

But Mcatee feels like "Moyes type signing" if ever there was one.
Armstrong is only 17, he's going to have setbacks and need time out,
I'd compare him to barkley and Coleman....
Both talented both needed time and experience...
Mcatee has been out on loan in the prem, he'd be a better option than Harrison and could play across the front line

Can't remember the last time we had a loan signing that was actually good. Mangala was been ok so far but other than that
You'd probably go far back as Lukaku or Deulofeu

Often there is a reason these guys are available for loan, they are not good enough for their parent club. with Lukaku and Deulofeu, were very young and at top tier clubs

Mcatee if he's available anything like the reported 25m would be an absolute steal, Philogene for 21m whilst Mcatee for 25m would be insane value in comparison for Mcatee.

Wouldn't think City would let him go but they've pretty much let all that amazingly good age group from the youth team move on now almost.
Sancho, Palmers, Rogers, Delap all sold on so just this lad remains. Given just how good the others are I don't see City suddenly changing attitude to allowing a younger player whose rated move if they don't seem him quite ready when the players pushing for games

And while there is the Foden experience of being patient paying off, there is also Cole Palmer moving on and being successful.
