Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Do we just have a few players on our list and will try for them every window?

Expecting a bid to Leeds for Gnonto any day now
This really isn’t a stick to beat Thelwell with. It’s a good thing that players have been identified, and the director of football doesn’t waver from his list and continues to pursue them. I’d be far more concerned if the DOF identified players, then six months later he suddenly doesn’t fancy them and looks elsewhere.

Unfortunately he took two goes to sign Beto and Danjuma, so no guarantee that’s a positive.

Things change quickly in football. There should be new players coming on to your radar all the time, and equally players who no longer make sense to recruit.

It's not necessarily a negative to go back for the same transfer targets but it can be slightly unimaginative and won't always work either. The Danjuma signing came at the second attempt and definitely wasn't a success.

He was willing to chuck close to 40 mil at gnonto a while back - that’s not looking too wise now

I assumed that was done, medical was reported two days ago. Kind of interesting it's not done, although possibly just because his agent hasn't a clue what he's doing. Even if we did try to usurp I wouldn't want to match the 22m they're offering regardless.

Probs my wouldn't need to do so, we didn't match their Broja offer when it fell through mate.

It's true mate, but NDiaye has worked out really well.
