Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I just want to stop giving out 100k p/w salaries like candy. Just SO many players nowhere near that level that we just gave out. DCL? You having a laugh? Doucoure??? Pickford is the only one anywhere near the level justified with that salary.

100% mate. Been saying it for years. If you sign players and are finishing 16th/17th every season, then the wages better bloody reflect that and they should be on 30-40k a week max.

If players want the big wages and we can't afford to pay it, then I'd happily wave them goodbye and wouldn't begrudge them going to get a big payday somewhere else.

We've got for too many players on contracts that get dished out to sides in the top 6-7 and challenging for Europe, not looking to avoid relegation.

I included centre backs that Moyes signed at Everton showing the profile. Again this was a point on pace, not quality.
Senderos was a loan, Gardner was a loan, Ferrari was a loan (and played right back). He bought Yobo, Jags, Lescott and Distin. 4 of the fastest players Everton have had in the last 40 years. He also bought ball playing centre backs to play alongside them Kroldrup (who flopped but was a good player in Italy by all accounts) and Heitenga who was a big success. If Moyes signs centre backs lacking pace then every manager in the league does. I wouldn't even classify Heitenga as slow.

Surely today's ruling means we can go out and spend?
Knowing moyes it'll be one, two at best before deadline day when we sign a 16 year old eastern European keeper and a few randoms

Yep thats correct. Being rapid is not a requirement of Moyes or all other managers for a CB it seems.
