Having an EFC tattoo and a silly song that the fans sing about you doesn't make you a good player. His peak goal scoring seasons are 13 goals yet DCL gets slated for that number and he (DCL) actually scored more the following season. Richarlison got found out within the first few months of being at Spurs, been obvious for ages he had been pushing to get away then when he does, he isn't good enough which was plainly obvious imo. He is a classic of players our fanbase seem too cling on to in that they run round loads, the hard yards stuff. Look I get that he scored some important goals for us in the time he was here, but talk of big valuations and the way some go on about him is very far fetched imo.

Surely part of a DOF's job is to get these players over the line? Kev has hugely failed at that, and its not as if Forest wern't under the same cloud as us?

It doesn’t read like we couldn’t make because of financial restraints if we showed interest and wanted to explore further. From what I read he simply chose NF over us. Some have said because of style of play but I think that’s conjecture.

I’m not absolving Thelwell’s any accountability here….you may well be right. What I am saying is we simply do not know. You can’t look at the result of not signing Thelwell and blame him as we really don’t know the variables involved. As far as I am aware Thelwell also hasn’t been responsible to this point in firing managers (I think a DoF’s remit should include hiring and firing of managers) so when someone says they don’t want to join because of style of play (which is not proven but understandable), he wouldn’t be able to do much about it. Philogene is another one we have been reportedly interested in, he first went to Villa and has now joined Ipswich.

Nah I just don't see him at that price point tbh, I have never rated him that highly. I mean look at him now, he is 27 (prime age range) and he wants to run off to Saudi for a payday rather than make something of himself.

Richarlison didn’t often play centre forward though - he was very clearly a much better player than DCL, and he obviously walks into our team as our best forward option by a mile even now.
He’s scored 20 goals for Brazil - the lad is a very good player, just not elite level like Son or Kane.
