Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

So if he is hamstrung financially.
Why is he wasting loan fees on danjuma & Lindstrom?
Wasteing a loan every year on Jack Harrison, loaning a player who Ipswich laughed home because of his spagetti legs in Broja?
Spending a hefty sum of what little money he has to spend (so everyone tells me) on a 4th choice centre half?
Getting tied in to pay £25m for Beto and also buying Chermiti in the same window, blocking the younger players potential of game time?

£15m on Maupay
Conor Coady on loan?
Vinagre?

The players i havent mentioned on that list for fair trial

Onana- Bought for big fee (could it on been spread out better?) But we recouped a really good fee back, so that gets a pass.

N'Diaye, such a shame we only have one player who can run with a football, well done on this one Kev, shows how bad you other signings have been.

McNeil & Garner - been good at times and poor at times. Good squad players, if our other players were better

Mangala & Iroebugnham- Both looked alright, not sure how much he had to do with either because of a)Our relationship with Texor & b) PSR

You cant see that list and claim he's done a good job

Do t think either Danjuma or Lindstrom were bad loans at the time in hindsight Danjuma was because Dyche refused to play him as for Jesper can judge it fully only after the season I'm hopeful he'll really kick on now, Harrison is awful and we knew it before the second loan, Broja was broken so bad too.

A smart club would’ve made all of those concessions before signing the highest paid player in its history. Being able to sell players for any decent amount of money would also have helped with that. We signed a player that we could not afford at the time, is the entire point of this two page long debate.
I just joined the debate so not looked to see what’s been said.

All I am saying is that while it is obviously better to make the concessions ahead of time. If you get an unexpected chance you can’t plan for, you can’t say “oh we didn’t plan for it” every time. Sometimes you have to make the numbers work after the fact if you think the player is worth it

Judging any attacking player in a Dyche team is very harsh imo as so little prep and effort were put into attacking parts of the gameplan.

Are we finally arriving at the conclusion that we couldn’t afford him here?
Nope, we overspent on other players, and paid them too much.

The fact we made a profit on James means we the the right side of the line with him.
The other transfers at the time (and still since) which we lost massive amounts of money on where the reason we lost massive amounts of money.

As I said, if all players had the same incoming/outgoing over their length of time with us, we would be in a very healthy position.

Well we lost £120m in the financial year 2020/21. We incurred points deductions for the financial period 2019-2022. James Rodriguez, whether people want to believe it or not, didn’t play for free and was the highest paid footballer at the club by some margin. We couldn’t afford him, it’s time to just accept it as adults now.
It was worth it in his case though just to see in him in the jersey.. shame he couldnt stay fit and play all time and probably bigger shame Benitez arrived !!

Ok baby steps…
Now factor in all the money he brought into the club, transfer out, sponsorship deals, columbian tv/sales.

James wasn’t a problem because he us made more money than we spent on him. Other player massively were.

Christ, It’s like pulling teeth this…
Which believe some Columbian paramilitaries were quite adept at.
