Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Genuine question though to those shouting about McNeil doing well and being the number ten, he just isn't that creative, yeah he's decent on set pieces, a decent crosser too but he's that one footed then central everything becomes focused on one side as he can only play that way - he also isn't particularly skillful in terms of threading great passes through. He needs too much time on the ball for me - has to switch it to his only foot he has, and stuff becomes pretty telegraphed.
Sorry mate, have to disagree. Isn’t he top of our goals and goals created currently and was last season? Before his recent injury that is. He contributes with good set pieces and shots from outside the box. I think centrally, in the role Douc was in yesterday could be a great spot for him. Or the left wing back spot. If we have Lindsrrom and Ndiaye all in advanced roles also, more options can open up around him to avoid focusing on one side too much (is the hope)

Well he is surplus to requirements at a team that plays attacking football too ..

The fact that he is so poor in possession is a problem for any team and with levy wanting to recoup as much as possible .. it’s a Jo from me
I don't think he is poor in possession mate. Is he an Erickson or bake obviously not, and I think sours fans especially have weirdly high expectations based on prior players.

It's a moot point really as he won't be coming here as financially above everything else it doesn't add up.

He's an improvement on Doucoure there because the ball doesn't bounce off him every time, but he's never gonna be going past DCL as it's just not his game, yeah his stats look very good on creativity but we are a side that massively focused on set pieces es and he literally takes them all. Chances from open play I just don't see him unlocking a defence.

Fair play he'll score the odd blamo from there but - and it's only my opinion he's a decent squad option but shouldn't be starting for any club with any hope if pushing upwards.

As a squad player he's perfect as he can play arguably 3-4 positions as needs must, but he's not good enough to kick down a spot except in a very poor side with no options

I don't see McNeill fitting into this Moyes team. Too one footed and lacks pace.

I'd sell in the summer.

That or keep as a backup mate, same with Mykolenko, if we have the money to bring in the players starting and depth in certain positions without selling then both are perfectly decent squad options.

We need a good starting 11, but we need a group of 6-7 beyond that providing depth who are solid enough

I'd have thought McNeil was exactly the type of player Moyes loves personally. Hard working, reliable, good set pieces, can play a couple of positions, little bit of quality on the ball. It's like the Moyes checklist.

One swallow doesn't make a summer, we can't just decide the squad is fine as it is now because we've won one game, we still need significant quality bringing in if we want to avoid a nervy end to the season.

Based on yesterday, I think we need to give Moyes some time and not expect signings this week.

It’s clear for the first time in a long time what our manager wants our playing identity to be and so if Moyes takes an extra week to make sure the players he brings in fit that then I am all for it.
6o good minutes does not a summer make!

We need the same type of players as we did on Friday

Hopefully we will get a few loans in from some decent teams when they unexpectedly fail to qualify for the European knock out stages and have to thin down their squads.

Hope we got our plans in place, ready to go at a moments notice 😀

Walker-Peters will definitely move this January, and I think we will be one of the favourites for his signature. I’m not convinced he’s that good tbh, but he is probably better than what we have, and he can play either side, so I think he’d make a great back up when we buy new fullbacks in the summer after Coleman and Young leave, and we look to sell both Mykolenko and Patterson.
