Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

considering we’ve been absolute paupers of the premier league for about 75% of our premier league existence it’s amazing we are still here.

Looks like our new overlords won’t be changing that.. although I could be wrong.

Just so everyone is aware it’s 10mil worth of down payments we have. So we could sign 2-3 players with that.

It's ten million worth of PSR room which is nothing to with down payments mate whatsoever.

Whatever the final fee is divided over the contract length and then applied against that season's PSR.

So a 50m player signed on a five year deal would classify as 10m if signed during the summer.

If you signed the same lad in January for 50m then his value would be split among 4 1/2 years with the half season cost applying so 5.5m

What I was saying the other day when someone said it was nonsense and it was only cashflow holding us back, not PSR and that it shouldn't be about problem with new owners.

As I understand it, what we agree to pay upfront goes on the books for this years' PSR and the remaining amount can be amortised.

It's the same reason why we could put Beto down for free in his first year here.

Factor in we need £5m upfront just to sign Walker-Peters, and we owe Chelsea £2m if we cancel Broja's loan and it looks like it will be hard to make that money stretch in January.

Only other option is to gamble and agree to sell Branthwaite or Ndiaye to someone before the June 30th deadline.

You do t understand how PSR works mate, no offence

When you pay does t effect it at all except for addons which are only applied the season they are triggered, otherwise the final fee agreed is all that matters in terms of PSR you take that figure divide it over the contract and apply the proportion to the current season.

At a guess, I'd imagine a lot hinges on whether Chelsea will take Broja back. Historically - I think, at least - Moyes prefers loan deals in January, so it'll be a big deal whether or not we can use that domestic slot.

Unfortunately Chelsea's decision sounds like it'll come down to money, which means it'll be resolved at the last possible moment, which is in turn bad news for us when we're trying to get people in now.
Think we are just as well paying Chelsea off and sending him back. Chelsea have no reason to do us any favours and he won’t be fit again until the end of the seasons

We couldn't put Beto down as free whatsoever - buying him applied a 6m charge against PSR that season.

Good news is that’s not how it works mate.

With 10 mill you can sign two 25 mill players this window on five year deals!

We won’t like! 😂

The four signings I'd love to see us do

Taribo West, on a free. I know we're not exactly short at the back, but his quality can't be underestimated - especially given he's a free.

Carl Laurie, to fill in at left back. Good attacking English defender with plenty of pace to get forward.

Mike Duff, to come in at right back. Defensively solid and has no issues moving forward.

Maxim Tsgilako. Young Belarusian that I'm quite excited for. Great pace and knows where the back of the net is.
Total cost around 750k

No offence but this is still wrong. As the I article itself says:

“Financial experts predict Everton have £5m-10m in PSR headroom to play with in the next fortnight.

In theory, they could spend up to £40m because, from a PSR perspective, a player signed for £40m on a four-and-a-half year contract would go on the books as £4.5m after amortisation is taken into account.”

Down payments don’t matter. PSR & amortisation do. The 5-10m quoted actually allows at least 40m to be spent.
