Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

As per longstanding, and common request across football forums...

News aggregators (some EFC examples here) merely report transfer related stories from elsewhere, but are not the actual source of the story itself. Please make an effort to post/share original sources.
Fair enough, and I wasn't meaning to come across arsey.

Tbf though, the original source is stated on the rumour. And again, I'm not on X or any other social media platforms other than this

Where’s he said this? Couldn’t find it.
Also, this is what these absolute jarg twitter links look like to those not logged in.

It's best forums/communities make effort to share direct source links, rather than share what people claim someone else said.

It reduces the chance of misinterpretation, and BS. It also rewards original source with links/credibility. The request isnt anything new, and as I say, common across decent football forums.

It won't always be possible, but if one source cites another, preferably share the original source if you can.
Yeah, I understand that. Just feels morally a bit meh, but that's a different issue. :)

Yeah all I'm saying is if everyone can make an effort to post the direct source, if/when you can.

If everyone does that, it'll help the forum.

One day I wont have to remind people, we'll have a prompt of "You're posting a known aggregator account. Are you able to share direct source?" or "Your posting a link from a source the community have voted as untrustworthy. Are you sure you want to post it?"

Here's Alex Crook with the story;

Here's Ben Jacobs repeating the story;

Here are aggregators (a lot of them are automated/AI now) saying it's Ben Jacobs;

Fair. He's not elite by any stretch but he's one of not many available players who plays on the half turn and can pass forward. His ability to play quickly is something we're massively missing. I also think he's exactly the kind of player Moyes would like/could use well. I think it's been difficult for him in and out of Chelsea, he doesn't really have a role there and it's one position they're very stacked in.

I actually really like him (mostly because I love any player that sounds like a stately home) and I can weirdly see him as an Idrissa replacement. Similar high energy, high work rate player.

I just think it hasn't clicked at Chelsea, Moyes might fancy being the one to get him kicking on. I'd be really happy with bringing him in.

Don't buy it mate, think it's a nothing rumour actually

I thought we would go back for him, but once Moyes came I didn't see him signing off on the deal.

He's just too erratic. I can't think of Moyes signing many attacking players who were that young/erratic really. Maybe Drenthe, but he never liked him and gave him back.

I suspect he has put that on the back burner.

He's actually pants

Genuinely intrigued on what basis?

He's a player who makes things happen, gets shots away and is still very young. Pretty similar to Buonanotte. When Brighton were finishing 6th in 22/23 he was playing his part.

People could've just said it about Ndiaye last year at Marseille not breaking into a 8th place team in France but he just needed to go somewhere to start every game and far more to come from him under Moyes.

For a side in the bottom three this is a decent signing to go with Delap and Hutchinson imo. Ipswich problem will remain however defensively if Godfrey is going to be their "star" defender signing of the window, completely useless against Man. City.

One man's pants are another man's trousers.
