Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

We have Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton at home as well.
Far superior gd.
And I don't see the bottom 3/4 getting over 30 points anyway.
I agree, but it’s not about what we think. It’s about what potential signings might think. And I reckon to those players - or types / standards of players we might like to see come in - we’re not a safe place to go until the summer. When things will change big time, I am sure.

Annoys me the injuries. I know every clubs gets them but the regularity by which we get long week injuries is ridiculous. It had got better last season but seems to have reemerged again. Quite simply we’ve barely seen any of Chermiti, Broja, Garner, Iroegbunam all season and it looks as though we’ll now not see Calvert Lewin Mangala McNeil for a long period. This to go with Branthwaite and Patterson missing the first month of the season.

Most teams tend to have one long term absentees and then a couple who are in or out for a few weeks with minor niggles. We always seem to have three or four long term write offs and then another three or four out for a few months at any given point.

I wonder how long the club (and fans) should look to give new signings before being allowed to form an opinion? I mean i see on other threads players that have had 50+ games for us still "needing a manager to give them a chance". It's nuts. The club needs a much tougher approach to cut losses on the deadwood - especially where some value could be got on a former big signing.
The flipside is we are seeing in 2 short weeks that a change in manager can make a big difference for individual players, both positive and negative. Those who have been rubbish under multiple managers and systems have no defence but players who struggled under Dyche probably deserve to the end of the season under Moyes before we conclude on them. Even Beto.

We’re closer to 11th (5 points behind Brentford) than we are to 17th (7 points ahead of Wolves). - pray for a lot of draws today lol.

Need to be looking up, not down.

The higher we finish the more money we get and the better players we attract (‘since David Moyes came in, we have the xth best record in the league’ that kind of thing).

Get a striker and right winger and a high quality midfielder in and we can do that (in that order of importance/preference).

There are a lot of good full backs available for free in the summer

…I 100% want Spurs to win. Keep extending the gap with the bottom 4 and catching other teams will look after itself. Two wins on the bounce for Leicester will significantly change the picture.

Looking like we now have a few players out for a long period, yesterday was a very Dyche-like back-to-the-wall performance which we probably will need more of before the end of the season. Big game next week and big challenge to bring in a couple who can have a positive impact.
