Didn’t similar happen with Stones. We were dithering & he was driving to Wigan at which point we matched their bid.

That was Andy Johnson and he wasn't dithering it was Kenwright who had failed to offer Palace what Wigan and Bolton had offered . As for Cahill from what I can remember Palace had agreed a fee with Millwall before we had but pulled out of the desk because his agent wanted 125,000

Wouldn't be surprised if Moyes goes for someone like Dessers. Hopefully he can be paid for by cash and sending Patterson back. That'd leave us with cash for a another, possibly one loan.
