Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

So you admit he made MANY transfers?

That's not someone who's a ditherer then.

And his transfer record for us was exceptional don't even attempt to dress it up as anything else.

His transfer record was exceptional my hairy behind!

For every Cahill there was an equal disaster purchase.

You sure do have moyes tinted glasses mate.

Dithering as he knew, we all knew, a positive change was needed but he didn't have the bottle. Hence indecisive. Honest question did you watch many games in person under Moyes in his first spell?

Ofc I did, didn't leave Liverpool till '14. It became very stale by around the 7th season as it was obvious we'd reached our limit under him by the time he left it was past time

…is Bove ok, unless I’m getting mixed up the last I report I had was him collapsing on the pitch?
I think he's got one of those heart pump things that Erikson has(not sure if it's the same as a pacemaker). They don't allow players which have them in the Italian league, so he's likely to move to a league which does.

The fanbase called him dithering dave, but was it ever dithering or just making sure he got the right type of player?

He didnt do too badly, maybe if the club had dithered a bit more when buying players or hiring managers in the last 12 years we wouldnt be putting on our Moyes cardi.
I think this hits the nail on the head.

He spent the money as if it was his own and wanted to ensure each player coming in would enhance the already very strong team spirit and culture that had made his team so competitive.

While it’s relevant to look back at missed opportunity and ‘dithering’ there’s got to be a lot of value in being able to acknowledge what he built when he was here both in terms of what preceded him, succeeded him and the conditions he worked under.

A lot of time has passed since he left.

I’m glad he’s back, he has said he’s glad to be back and loves the club, the team is getting results and I’m happy to move forward on that basis.

Lets test this.

Baines, Lescott, Cahill, Arteta, Pienaar, Fellaini, Coleman, Mirallas, Stones, Saha, Yakubu, Jags, Howard all for less money than we paid for Iceland.

Now you name me 13 bad signings he made.

Every club signs duds. Moyes hardly put a foot wrong with the budgets he had. Obviously some stinkers in there, Shandy vdM, Drenthe for example but by and large the positives outshone the negatives !

Drenthe was a loan, Shandy was a smallish fee, the likes of Koldrup, Beattie were moved on pretty quickly for a minor loss.

But sure, he defo bought a few stinkers.

As I recall McBride was only a loan and done alright for us, you can only buy what s in you're price range Dave and Kenwright owned us...but you know that don't you.
Johnson, Saha, Yakubu, brought Rooney through.

Saha and Yakubu were they only two decent strikers we had in 11 years. Rooney came through despite Moyes. He'd have been on the bench until United bought him if it'd have been left to Moyes.

Signing good striker was never his thing. Defenders and Mrs, yes. Strikers, by and large, no.
