Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I wouldn't be against bringing him in if it's about £10M - 4x what rangers paid for him.

Take a look at his highlights. The lad has quality, but he's got an arse the size of a small moon and he's v slow over the first 5-10 yards because of it.

I can see why he's succeeding in Scotland, but he would literally need to lose a stone to gain enough speed over that crucial first few yards

I just looked on a rangers fan forum and one of them is saying that he shouldn't;t be sold in January and that by then he'll be worth £35M to some club in the summer.

£2.5M they bought him for six months ago and the lad - even according to rangers fans is short of pace and stamina.

FFS, I can see us getting stung here again.

He can slot, but he can slot in the SPL. Any move for him for anything other than a modest price is a massive gamble.
I wouldn't be giving them anymore than 10 in the current market.

He's had a couple of decent months, some decent performances in Europe but to suggest 25-35 million shows you how round the bend the game has gone.

Who was going to buy Mina and Gomes? Do you think teams were queuing up to take them off our hands?

The point, which you've missed, is that we don't have sellable assets other than those we've sold and we have for some years now looked like a basket case club, who change managers in the middle of transfer windows who are bordering on relegation every year.

We've had to sell Onana, Richarlison, Gordon + Simms, Cannon, Dobbin.

On Gordon specifically, he may be worth twice as much now, but the value is based on him playing for a much better team, who don't need to sell, who can showcase him across European competition (we couldn't do that).
Gordon was always sold too cheaply in my opinion. You could see the potential he had. He was practically given away

…he actually suggested Dessers
He must be mad.
There are at least 5 or 6 better forwards in the lower league.
Wouldn't pay anything like £25 million for the fella we are linked with either, only watched him agaists Hibs were he played good,(missed a sitter at one piont)
And against Celtic looks OK on the ball, can do a job holding it up,
Fairly strong
But can't say I thought we should buy him.
Wouldn't pay anything over £ 12 million for him.
To much of a gamble.
To hope he gets up and running in the prem, without raw pace the rest of his game would have to be very good to compete against the athletes we see at prem clubs.

Maybe there are just no deals in place then, fact is that the normal sources have nothing to say atm as they getting fed nothing.

Yeah pretty much every club has at least one hour o they will leak stuff out too, even the toughest of ships, it serves them to do so when needed.

Case in point, Brighton very rarely let any I do cone out about dealing unless it suits them to do so, Naylor is one of the ones they use for that, he certainly when a story comes out about them being willing to sell Ferguson it's the club informing him "write a piece stating this thanks" now it's well known that he's for sale and Brighton want rid now rather than wanting to listen to loan offers, similarly they've used another journos to release info about a low bid being rejected - which may or may not have happened, in order to let it be known they still want a decent price.

9 goals so far this season. In England that'd be a feat; in Scotland and you think not so great.

Well you’ve hit on why the DoF model has never worked at Everton. The DoF should choose the coach. One that puts a tracksuit on and coaches the players. This obviously doesn’t happen.

We have consistently brought in old school managers that want players they have worked with before. There has been no coherent style of play at all as a consequence.

Given that. It’s imperative to bring in players the manager wants. Or we end up chasing Danjuma for a year when the manager doesn’t even fancy him.
All of which I would attribute to the owner rather than the DoF. I think Thelwell has spent his entire time fire fighting while trying to keep the plane in the air.

While there should be valid criticism (his attacking signings haven't been successful) It just feels like a crowd participation thing on here to moan about the job he's done, while completely ignoring the circumstances he is operating in.

Wrexham’s 5 th choice striker, Sam Dalby , is top goalscorer in the league on loan to Dundee United , 11or 12 goals I can’t remember, £300 k would buy him. Goals scored in the SPL can definitely be a misleading figure. He scored against Rangers last weekend.

I've never been bothered about doing business with them until the Patterson rip off compounded the rip off over Michael Ball all those years ago.

If we're to get Igamane it has to be for about £5M top whack to represent a reasonable deal.

About the Michael Ball rip off, didn't we get Jelavic a fair bit cheaper because Ranger's need us money from the Ball deal ? Sure I heard that at the time Dave.
