Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I actually don't understand this list.

I am just saying that none of his signings seem to be iconic in the sense that you would associate with Everton.
What would you expect from someone who has had no money to spend since he arrived at the club.

In fact, he has made a profit on transfers during his tenure at Everton.

I really don't understand why people can't comprehend that signing players with a zero transfer budget is difficult.

I wouldn't be giving them anymore than 10 in the current market.

He's had a couple of decent months, some decent performances in Europe but to suggest 25-35 million shows you how round the bend the game has gone.

End of the day mate a tweet with 25-35m on it will get more hits than one saying 5m.

It's why you had the laughable 100m getting write about Ferguson and even now you're seeing 50m etc.

For a player whose actually worth around 20-25m

I haven’t done anything mate. Nothing different to any journalist anyway. Football is a small world like I say and you can go through every club in the Premier League and you will have players linked or reputable people talking about players to respective clubs. It’s just the footballing world, that’s all. Bigger things to worry about in truth.
I wasn't having a go at you and I appreciate what you do ..I was more disappointed with Everton because the information we've recieved before anything is officially announced has been shocking .

Of course in this day and age things are difficult to keep quiet and things will get leaked . But it seems with Everton they were prevelant and if our new owners can stop a lot of it then it's got to be a positive

That first half season when he scored 11 in 16 games in all comps was class though when we thought he was then gonna fire us to champions league the following season.

Was our top scorer by like 7 goals despite only playing 16.

Put a fair bit of money on him at great odds to be the euros top scorer that summer ... That bet aged like milk

He has had a bigger budget that most leagues in the world. You can have an iconic player for very cheap if you could get them before they are worth the 15-20 million we spend on any player. Most of the business is coming from clubs which have financial problems of their own or players who have had an off-transfer move. He is the freakin DoF; he should have planned for contingencies; spending 15-30m on individual players when we are where we are is crazy. If you think of his activities as a financial portfolio, he would be the dime-a-dozen kind of broker.

I don't think anyone is saying signing player's in January is better then the summer. But we are one of the teams that are in desperate need of incomings. The most important thing is being a Premier League Club.

You seem to be obsessed with us not signing a striker . Id sign 5000 if it meant we stayed up
If we signed 5000 strikers to stay up we would just get done by PSR the following season with a huge points deduction as we have massively overspent on fee's, wages & training kit for 5000 new players.

I do get why certain players on that list longstaff will because like almiron newcastle will want make money to buy in the summer. Would rather we stayed away from that if honest

Nah Newcastle wants rid because if they can get some mug to pay decent money it'll facilitate them buying someone good this January like Mcatee who they were heavily linked with during the summer.

West Ham want rid of Ings because they hope some mug will give them money for a washed up joke on 125k per week so they can buy a genuinely good striker like Duran or Ferguson.

Ranger want rid of there striker because he's crap and they're hoping someone gives them a stupid 6 month profit turnaround on a lad who'll be found out soon to be very very mediocre

Question is are we mugs enough to facilitate West Ham and Newcastles PSR problems by giving them money for old tat so they can seriously improve there team for years by getting in very good young players.

If we do it shows basically we don't consider ourselves to be competing against either and are in a mini league with the bottom 4-5 sides and the mentality hasn't changed.

Can try disguise this with oh it's just a short term fix for a a current problem all we want but that's the nuts and bolts of it.

Not seeing Bournemouth with a striker crisis bring linked to Ings, not seeing sours with a CB crisis being linked with Michael Keane for example.

Another thing, we had loads of dross we wanted rid of on our books, none of the teams over here were mugs enough to take them off us though were they?

Isn't Longstaff's contract running out in the summer?
