Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Davey is a proper footy man, he got Koldrup off after his first training session, I think wee Davey knows this boy cant play football.
If all our other strikers weren’t crocked, I reckon he’d already be gone. As it stands though I reckon we’ve got another 6 months of Beto causing chaos on the pitch and trying to wrap his head around the offside rule.

Yeah let’s scoff at a player that’s been a key part of them getting 4th and 7th in the last two years and pretend he isn’t worth even as much as we paid for doucoure who struggles to make 5 yard passes.

He may not be exciting but he is solid and dependable as a player and walks into our starting 11 at this point. As I’ve said, he would do a job for now and next season and then ultimately be a decent squad player when we look to progress.
I'd say the likes of Isak & Gordon have been more key in getting NU to those places than a bog standard midfielder who is hardly team's linchpin, and I doubt anyone thinks Doucoure is a £25-30m player (although you could argue his goals a year back were key to us staying in the Prem).

A dependable player maybe, but doesn't take the team up a level for me. Just another functional player who can "do a job" when it would be nice if we could identify some players that actually improve us, maybe find some unknown gems like Brighton do, instead of continually wasting our limited budget on average-at-best players.

Accept it.

He's not wanted by Moyes, he wants to move, and it frees up 6m PSR for this year, we'd take a 6m hit the year after, but have 6m extra the year after so overall beneficial.

This is my thinking.

This is a bit technical, but essentially he would help our PSR this year.

Beto is listed at 25m Euros, so around 21m quid. 4 year deal, so essentially he's worth 12.5m book value next year, which is very close to the 12m they've bid.

However this year, he loses about 3m off his Book value, so we are getting +3m and his wages off the books as a profit.

It's a bit complicated, but it allows us to potentially spend 20m for someone on Betos wages and not lose money this year to PSR. That seems like an obvious move for me.

We could terminate the loan by refusing to treat him, he's not our player

Interesting, trying to think of other clubs we have sold too, but not bought off.

I dont think it means anything really.

Like Fulham, my memory doesnt let me think of anyone we bought, but we have sold them at least a few.

Meh, pointless with my memory.
Probably the best shout. We've sold them Davies, Pembridge, Iwobi, Radzinski, Johnson.

We got Stekelenberg from them though.

I’ve had this conversation with someone else today as well. I’d love to be going after younger, more progressive and unknown players. And I think we do in summer.

But right now, we are at threat of relegation, limited by funds, have an ageing squad and are only going to have like 12/14 players left come summer.

£15/20m for someone who is of starting quality for our team (meaning he does currently improve it), can walk straight in without needing time to adapt and develop, and can become a decent squad player in the next 2 years, is pretty standard in terms of fees and isn’t a bad deal in my view.
