Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I just don't think he rates him at all. He hasn't given him any minutes in the 3 games. I reckon every other fit first team player except for the goalkeepers have got some minutes
“Oh dear.”

No apology needed.
Again
Both managers you quoted continue to play him when fit.

But of course you have already pre judged the lad in your last sentence in this post .
Based on Internet rumours.
Carry on mate.
The apology thing was a joke mate but I haven’t judged him at all, that’s why I keep saying you’re misunderstanding but you keep insisting you’re not despite me repeatedly saying I’m not saying what you claim I am! All I was saying is it seems clear that the club and him are not seeing eye to eye, two managers have made comment about the way he goes about things and just the fact they’re willing to sell him suggests as much. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad egg or is doing anything actually wrong, just that there’s clearly an issue somewhere along the line. If you want to insist that you know what I meant better than I do then crack on mate. It would obviously be a weird AF thing to do, but I feel like that won’t stop you.

I do tbh.

Its in Chelsea's best intrests. They were desperate to get rid of him in the summer and we literally got him in as a bit of a "oh, go on then".

Problem is if they if they tell us to lump it and hold us to the contract. Whos going to touch broja in the future?

Their essentially trying to loan him out till his contract runs out now. As he's on too higher wages for the teams whod want him to get him and he wont drop his wage demands. Only teams he'll go to in the prem is teams in our position and as we've now seen hes being injured most of the season played 5 games and now hes out for the rest of the season with injuries and weve lost a loan spot.

Other teams will look at that next season and think no chance. Not saying they need to take him back no charge but they need to compromise at some point.
Disagree for me. I don't think Chelsea have any 'need' whatsoever to concern themselves with Broja. I doubt he's a top earner at a club that has spent £1.3bn in two years and hands out 8 year contracts, so if a player they dont want and cannot use comes back it's hardly going to rocket their wage bill or put them in financial trouble as he is zero cost on their books (of course they would quite rightly want compensating for taking him back half a season early).

We'll have to see but it looks a very simple situation to me: we took an injured player on loan for a year at zero cost for six months on proviso we pick up the second half of the tab, but now we want to get out of it because of bad luck. We took a gamble, it backfired. Either we take it on the chin and ride it out, or we pay a fee and undo it and maybe get someone else in. Either way, it's not really Chelsea's problem.

There are Stevie Wonder tribute acts that can see Harrison is garbage (at least when he plays wide right). Another nothing player who was guaranteed his spot every week as a Dyche favourite. Doubt the lad would even get in the current Leeds team tbh.

I wish you no ill fella but you do have a way of twisting your wording after you initially post , it's not the first time either. ( are you related to my wife ? ).

All considered I would like him here.

I wish you well so let's draw a line under this , sleep tight fellow Blue.

Sorry mate, your posts are like Shakespeare honestly you write so well 😂.

6

4 foreign, 2 domestic

just thought i'd chip in on this one. the premier league only has rules on domestic loans (called "temporary transfers") - it does not have any rules on foreign loans.

the domestic rules are fairly straightforward; you can only have 2 at any given time. and at most, 4 different domestic loans in a single season. ie;- if we binned Harrison + Broja off, loaned in Ings + Chukwuemeka, and both of Ings and Chukwuemeka were injured first day of training, we couldn't replace them with domestic loans. you also cant loan more than one player from the same club at the same time if its another English club.

foreign loans however are governed by FIFA rules, which is 6 in and 6 out. a little more complicated that - but my point is, if we wanted to go and loan two players abroad (perhaps a striker from abroad), we could do that without cancelling say Broja or Harrison. we'd then have 2 domestic, 3 foreign, 5 in total - and that'd be well within the rules

If you need any proof/confirmation - Fulham did it twice, the year they went down under Parker during COVID, and the first year they came up under Silva. couple of other clubs done it too - Forest + Watford I think. Burnley as well did it too I think in the year Dyche was sacked? They were relegated after losing to Spurs, and I'm pretty sure they had 5 loan players in the squad (2-1 to Spurs, one of the loanees scored funnily enough).

*however* the key thing is more finding actual good loans is actually going to be pretty hard, because most clubs dont want to loan out good players until right at the very last minute in the window (ie;- oh [Poor language removed], we cant sell this guy, might as well get something and send him on loan rather than pay his wages).

so i think, unsurprisingly, its all going to go very much down to the wire. i remember we signed Drenthe and Stracqualursi both very very late on deadline day (i think) - it'll be similar to that. regardless, win Saturday, who's arsed who we bring in - get over the line this year, start the rebuild in summer :drunk:
