Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Everton eyeing January move for Hakim Ziyech

The Friedkin Group have an eye on the summer transfer window as an opportunity to make big changes to their squad.

But according to the French outlet Jeunes Footeux, there could also be movement next month with Hakim Ziyech a player on their radar.

This comes amid interest from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais who are also credited with an interest in the 31-year-old forward.
Blast from the past

I'm assuming this is click bait nonsense, otherwise this is very underwhelming news. Where does he even play in our set up?
Right wing I guess, he has played a fair bit there but his best football was in the middle floating about as a no10/second striker type. Goes against everything Thelwell said about our proposed transfer model though, ie over 27 years old, likely high wages, it seems an odd link imo.

We do love signing a no10/second striker and playing them out on the wing

He is more known as a winger tbh, but if you look at his record he has played and scored/assisted more as a no10. I know what you mean though, not keen on signing another tbh, certainly not with Dyche present and his rather strange view that its a defensive role!

I would imagine we would try to bring in a couple of players in January.

However, might be tricky to convince quality players to join if Dyche is the manager, both because I don’t reckon he’s a “draw” and because of the uncertainty about his future.

To me it would make more sense to bring in a new manager ( eg Potter) and then start bringing in players that can then bed in with his style.

Interesting times…

Do you think it could just possibly be (*checks notes* a striker needed by a club, pick a random name the club was linked with in the past, a few managers ago) clickbait?

Lewin has not been interested for a while now and hopefully he will be on the way in January if only to get a fee for him. Beto has always looked like he will be much better in a slower league, play just seems to bypass him but then again that could be the Dyche style of play which attacking wise is pretty horrid.
This is nonsense

Speaking on Men In Blazers [24 December], Romano said: “I think it will take some time, some days to assess everything. So, I don’t want to throw out names just for the sake of it. They’re preparing something for the January window and for the summer.

“But now, with new owners, it’s going to be different; the structure and vision they’ll have. It’s going to take some time before they say let’s go for this player. But I’m hearing they will do something in January.

“TFG people know the Serie A market very well. I’m hearing they’re monitoring some players in Serie A. I can’t say more at the moment.”
