A RB who allows the team to be competent and bring in another player who actually likes having the football at their feet
This team is a mid table side 10th - 8th .
To get into the top 6 we need a starter right back , a back up left back that CA will actually pick , a sitting midfielder and a striker who can play all 3 front positions if required.
The RB should be a permanent signing. I will leave the names to the more knowledgeable on here but my choice ( if he's fed up with Spain and wants to return north ) would be Trippier.
The back up left back can be a loan unless CA really doesn't fancy Niels in which case we need to buy.
The sitting midfielder could also be a loan if he sees a long term future in Gbamin.
The forward who can play all 3 position is a tricky one and for me the standout candidate is Zaha.
The bigger jump is the top 4.
To my mind , in addition to the above we would also need 3 top class players.
A goalkeeper of the standard of Oblak , an up grade on Keane at centre half and a world class striker .
It would be impossible to achieve this leap to top 4 in 1 window but progression allowing us to secure a top 6 place should be possible after the January and / or summer windows.
Of course all of this assumes that we retain all our better players and get rid of the likes of Delph , Sigurdsson , Bolasie etc which to date Brands has failed to do .

So just a keeper on par with one of the top 3 keepers in the world and a world class striker who is willing to come to a mid table club. Any names?

You could say a left - back as well eggs.
James can't play in the midfield 3 in the prem. It just leaves us over run in midfield. Hes better off on the right where he is free to drift inside.
What we need is a defensive midfielder with a good passing range who can just sit in front of the back four and cover the space tye FBs leave when we attack. This will allow allan and doucore to play their proper game. Allan can run around and be the destroyer and doucore can be a box to box who runs past the striker or can arrive late into the box.
I honestly believe that the player we need in midfield is the player gbamin is supposed to be. Whether he'll be able to reach the standard of the Prem after whats happened to him is the question though.
The progression to get a top 4 team is in 2 steps and at least 2 probably more windows.
You only have a chance of attracting a top class keeper and centre forward if you are established as a top 6 team.
Names....., no I'll leave that to others who gave more knowledge of European / World football. Oblak and Haaland would be nice but it isnt going to happen is it.
Honestly I'd play godfrey and holgate as our main cb partnership going forward. We'd be able to push so much further up the pitch.
With our injuries the way they are atm id play holgate at rb, godfrey at dcm and mina and Keane at cb. We'll be playing a low block for the next three games anyway and that's their bread and butter. When gamin is back fit and playing id move godfrey to cb and take out which ever one of mina and Keane has been worse.
I think this window will tell us a lot about where our hierarchy see us right now. A couple of first teamers would tell us that they are trying to get something happening and aren't happy. A weak window, a young players or two would indicate a passiveness similar to what Im seeing on the pitch right now. Lets hope we can get a couple of players in who go straight into the team. Pace please.....
