Just to clarify I meant when he plays as the #10 in our 4-2-3-1 he plays so far forward and does so little aside from pop up and score goals and whip in corners that I think he's closer to a forward than a midfielder.
At the time you said it he was indeed playing as a 10, very much a forward for me at that time, despite me probably saying he was a midfielder at the time.

Clearly under Carlo hes played deeper.

Ive had a glance at how Norwich set up and for me, hes a forward.

Right side of a 4-2-3-1 could go either way but the amount of work he does getting the ball forward makes him a midfielder in my eyes, or at least someone who can do midfield things.

Bored as I was I watched the whole game.
IMO the technique and pattern of play was woeful and whilst we were bad last night O thought we looked far more cohesive than either of the Old Firm.
I'd go further and suggest that a decent Championship team like Brentford would beat either fairly comfortably.

You might be right but rangers have had some very good results in Europe this season

We need guys with pace and the ability To use it to run past players, I want to see lamptey at RB to challenge Coleman a RW and a striker

But wouldn't that free up Doucoure and Allan to do that role when Allan gets fit? Because we have using Allan to sit deep most games and try to be the guy who breaks up plays when you see him being quite effective at running at opponents.

Hmm. I don't think either Doucoure or Allan can unlock a defence by skipping around a few players though.

Allan can drive us forward from deep but that's different. Doucoure isn't great on the ball but is good with late off-the-ball runs into the area - as we saw against Fulham, Brighton and Sheff Utd to goalscoring effect.

I think we need a real playmaker in there. But not in the James sense. In that sense of a Grealish-type player (dare I say it, Barkley) who have the ability to retain possession high upfield and also be able to run with it at real pace and have that ability to pick a killer pass.

Perhaps that should be Iwobi for now, I wouldn't be against trying it, but it probably leaves the midfield too exposed. And I don't think Iwobi's decision making is good enough.

He was an excellent player in his prime but we only got one year of that. The rest of his time he did have some good spells but he mostly ranged from decent to downright awful. He was dreadful for pretty much the whole of 14/15.

He’s painfully overrated in terms of his contribution to Everton.

Some whopping shouts in here today. That last comment is up there. Its all about opinions I suppose.

Second only to Siggurdson in being hyped up beyond his abilities. McCarthy carried him in 13/14. You only had to see what happened against Palace as soon as McCarthyw as rested, they just ran all over us. A good player when he was 25 but by the time we had him he was far too slow and once McCarthy got injured the gap between Barry and the other midfielders became huge because he was say so deep to cover his lack of pace.
