We do do it. We just refuse to play them when we do ala Vlasic and LookmanHe played an entire season in the PL and cost 20m. I'm talking guys who are cheap or coming from smaller leagues or haven't played much in the first team in a big league.

When you say forward are you talking a CF like DCL or someone who can operate across all 3 positions?
Exactly. If we need them ready for first team, they cost a lot more.We do do it. We just refuse to play them when we do ala Vlasic and Lookman
I just want to take shots at it a tad more is all. Branthwaite and Nkounkou could be good but that's the whole pipeline.Ok so you want us to unearth regularly gems, who are good enough to play for a top 6 team, as teenagers for under 20m?
But weve done it loads and it hasn't worked out.I just want to take shots at it a tad more is all. Branthwaite and Nkounkou could be good but that's the whole pipeline.
Like you say, we need flexibility up front so that we can rotate and there’s genuine competition. I don’t want someone to come and sit on the bench.Someone who can operate in all three roles - or at least free up Richarlison to fill in for DCL if needed.

This isn't even the road I normally suggest tbh. And it has worked for us. DCL, Stones, Holgate. Lookman and Vlasic both ended up as profits even if I think they were handled wrong. We should be stocking more of those than we do I think. It isn't even a massive change I'm asking for. Just bring in Branthwaite and someone else. Nkounkou and one more. If it works it is really beneficial and if it doesn't it almost doesn't even matter. But weve done it loads and it hasn't worked out.
Sure I know you blame "us", but we have tried.
Lookman, Vlasic, Henry, Kean, I know you will say Kean wasn't a nobody, but we have tried to buy younger talent and it simply hasn't worked.
As I said earlier, we could have bought Maddison, but not a chance he would be what he is now.
Save us both the time by blaming the club, my only point is that we have tried to go down the road your suggesting and its a very, very dangerous road, you need to be really, really lucky to hit the mana.
Sadly the issue currently is we have a bloated squad, these players require a wage and they require a pathway. This isn't even the road I normally suggest tbh. And it has worked for us. It's also a really difficult enterprise. Identifying talent that can be successfully nurtured into a player that will improve the first team is extraordinarily difficult. And that's before you bring competition into the equation: all of our peers across Europe are fishing in the same pond, looking for the same thing.Save us both the time by blaming the club, my only point is that we have tried to go down the road your suggesting and its a very, very dangerous road, you need to be really, really lucky to hit the mana.
And at the other end of the spectrum there are players like Vardy, deemed not good enough as a youngster, playing for the Dog and Duck and then a few years later hes 1 of the best Strikers in the best league in the World. It's also a really difficult enterprise. I think Rooney broke a generation of Evertonians' expectations of what a young talent ought to be. The relative trajectories of DCL and Lookman over the past few seasons are living proof that most of us can't see what potential looks like, and that we really ought to go a bit easier on those making the signings.
Every team that has faith that this isn't true reaps the rewards yet the myth persists. United are in a title race right now in large part because they believed that develop younger players was worth it.Sadly the issue currently is we have a bloated squad, these players require a wage and they require a pathway.
So there's not really "room", its about making room, which will happen over the next few years.
With Carlo here we will probably target the ready-made, but Brands loves his little punts, hes done it all through his career, I see no reason why he wont start playing a bit more. We have also just come off the back of a transfer ban of sorts, sadly coupled with the new work permit rules, certain countries are now a bit off-limits. Whilst this might open up South America a bit more, our current main issue is shredding some garbo from the squad.
But my point is, we have tried, you just want to see more, but then its not like this League is an ideal breeding ground like for example DAS SPL, the Dutch and French league are. This league ain't for kids.
