Id be asking for £60mil based on the factors listed above but £40mil+ id be ok with as its £25mil on the book value profit.
This made me laugh first thing in the morning. If Zat was in charge of our transfer policy we’d be bidding £10 mill for Ronaldo’s wanksock

Kirkbride has written a stack of updates today - practically distanced us from Khedira, Isco and a transfer for Tosun.

I know it's a rag and the opposite will likely happen but thought it was worth posting

Bless him, he said Ancelotti wasn’t happening, James would cost too much and we would only be looking at loans last summer. I think the boys at the echo have good and honest intentions but they really know no more than the rest of us

The issue is for those names mentioned, most got opportunities at a time when we went from being a side that was regularly top 6/7 to one that wasnt. The two things are linked.

A few clubs, in a few countries are able to blood youngsters while maintaining peak performance. It's not been done in England for 20 years. The closest is probably Southampton to what European teams do. It's a brutal league for young players as theres not let up or easy games. Look at Havertz and Werner this season.

You either are a club who are a feeder club, like Southampton, or you think like winners. The appointment of Ancelotti has been the crystallization of that move from one to another for us.

There are pros and cons if course. But I'll be frank, I enjoy us sitting level 4th, winning most weeks, over having one of the youngest squads and selling lads on (as mentioned above) as we did under the likes of Silva and Martinez.

Brands will provide some balance on Ancelotti too. Godfrey, Brainthwaite and Nkounkou signed with hopefully Gordon breaking through. If we can sell 2 of the above on, for 50-100m then weve paid for Ancelottis short termism. So theres nuance in the shift too. However Ancelotti is not giving anyone a game just because they are young. He wants to win.
So Tuson comes in off the bench rather than Simms.. it's because Carlo wants to win.. a Simms not ready for the PL is at very least a slightly better option than Tuson.

Phil Kirkbride - 26th August 2020

Carlo Ancelotti would like to bring James Rodriguez to Everton and has discussed the move with the club's board.

But a deal for the Real Madrid playmaker would be difficult for the Blues to pull off given the 29-year-old's wage demands.

Everton are also are focused on their transfer priority - central midfielders - and talk of signing Rodriguez is only at the preliminary stage.

12 days later

Everton have signed Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez from Real Madrid on a two-year deal, with a Club option for a third season.

Phil Kirkbride - 23rd May 2020

It is believed the club are planning to explore what possibilities there are in the loan market with many elite clubs expected to be open to doing more deals of this nature as all teams are forced to balance the books.

Swaps and free transfers are also to be looked into by the Blues.

Everton sign Doucoure for £20m, Allan for £21m and Godfrey for £25m.

I'd be stunned if Norwich sold anyone key to their side for anything resembling a reasonable price in January. Promotion is worth what, 120m? No chance they risk that when they can wait to the summer and sell Aarons, Buendia and whoever else for the same amount whether they're going up or not.

And if they do go up they might even be in a position to demand more.

That is the logical position (and far more so someone like Watford) but Norwich seem far more invested in the process (why sell Godfrey who their manager considered their best player and the best player in the league for example?)

I would say say certain guarentees were made to players, including Aarons that if the right offer came in they could go. They have a strong scouting network and would probably have identified the next target. Them being in a strong position though probably weakens our hand, and means at the minimum what they wanted in the summer would still stand.

The only way the deal real makes sense, is that if he is the top target and they feel the price will only increase with promotion.

He spouts a load of crap. "Everton wouldn't sanction a love for Kenny until later in the window".

If anyone offered 5m for him right now he'd be volleyed out of Goodison by the top brass.

Yup. He’s barely played even when fit.

let’s see how January plays out but Kirkbride hasn’t really called a lot right recently.

Toshun
Bernard
Delph
Kenny

Offload them and get some dough in for Kean and lets go get some ballers in and get us in the hat for the CL draw next season.
