I like Ødegaard as much as the next guy, but 4 goals and 6 assists in more than 30games last season isnt that impressive. Sandro had 14goals and 5 assists the season we brought him in with one less game playd. Ødegaard hasnt quite developed into what a lot of people thought he would. Good player, but it shouldnt be that surprising hes not getting much game time at Real Madrid. A loan with an option to buy would be worth it(to me) just to have a Norwegian guy in our squad. And who knows, maybe the PL would suit him.

I don't see him based on goals and assists. He is better at that deep layung playmaker position ala Kroos who also doesn't get a lot of goals or assists.

Martin would make our midfield indefinitely better. He would bring more quality, control, balance, and creativity

Wasnt him who signed him...the club signed him.

The club sign everyone who plays for them but ancelotti was manager when they signed him and as such would of had some input in the deal.

Ancelotti named him in the champions league squad and gave him his first appearance for the club.

No. Like i said, the club signed him.

Odegaard
Isco
Vinicius
Militao
Valverde
Odriozola

They all seem to be currently out of the picture.

Valverde is really the jewel there but i cant imagine Madrid would sell him.

I'd break our transfer record for him in a second.

Militao is totally wasted there, we should be going for him and slotting him in as our new right back -- hes totally dominant there.

Odegaard is an interesting one, i think a loan with an option to buy as he's still got to adapt to the premier league.
You keep saying you want a Digne on the right, that ain't Militao, make your mind up or just admit that you might have got this 1 wrong, again.

Ancelotti was Real head coach at the time of the signing but says club president Florentino Perez was behind the transfer.

"When Florentino buys a Norwegian footballer, you simply have to accept it," he writes in his book Quiet Leadership.

"Furthermore, the president decided that he would play three games with the first team as a public relations exercise".

Ancelotti added: "He could be the best player in the world, but I don't care because he was not a player who I asked for. That signing was to do with PR."

We wont be signing him.

Nope.

Ive said that I quite like this defensive setup we have now.

Id happily keep it and add in a right sided player who can dominate opposing players -- that is someone like Eder Militao.

However, if Ancelotti wants to open up to a more expansive style then we'd need to bring in an attacking right back.

The latter would signal doomsday for Keane and possibly Mina who could not play a high line together.

Which you havent considered.

I know for a fact Carlo isn't considering changing his 2 first choice CBs this Summer, why would he?

If it ain't broke, why would it need fixing? Oh that's right, Zatmania thinks we need to play a high line.

Midfield needs fixing, the right side needs fixing, I see no reason why he would rip up the whole back line.

That's not to say either could be sold after a good Euros or a Copa, but that's about getting an offer you can't refuse.

But no Zat, I'm willing to bet that 5 of our CBs are still here September.

The other day I said 6, Mina, Keane, Branch, Holgate, Godfrey, Gibson, notice how I'm now saying 5, 1 of them goes, my money is on Holgate.

I'm not saying I think it should be done, but the logic behind Zat's argument here appears to be sound.

Midfield struggles and often doesn't appear mobile enough, we all agree...

Zat's potential solution would be to change personnel in the back four to allow them to play a higher line - this in turn would allow the midfield to move further forward because they would have less space to cover and they could be more confident that the defenders could recover if a long ball was played past them for an opposition attacker to chase.

There is merit to the idea. Holgate, Godfrey and Digne (and Nkounkou?) could all play that way. Add in either a RB that fits the bill, or a CB (because Holgate can do either role) and you're ready to give it a try. From a wages point of view however you'd be left with Keane and Mina both sitting on the bench, earning big money and getting older.

Whether or not the club thinks this option is worth pursuing probably depends, in part at least, on how much interest there is from other clubs for Yerry Mina. He'd be the odd man out in this scenario because unlike Keane he doesn't help in respect of the Home Grown rule - ergo, he's the CB you sell.
