Given all our recent departures, we can afford to pay 50% of his wages for five months.

Given that he'd walk into our starting lineup in a 4-2-3-1 and also allow us to revert to the 4-3-3 we used to such good effect at the start of the season, I'd say he's worth the 60k per week.

Rather pay him that than Bernard

Watching awful sides like Newcastle have the freedom of Goodison Park because our midfield can't be arsed to do their jobs is why we need Gana if he's available. You cannot challenge if you only have two players capable of doing a job in the middle. You need to keep them fresh, they will get injured, they will get suspended. If he's available, he should be here. It should have been part of the deal to take Kean to PSG in the first place.

this, anyone saying we’re covered in midfield is insane. In gylfi/Gomes/Davies we have the worst midfield options in EPL

Absolutely amazing that we could see Lossl, Kenny, Pennington, Branthwaite, Besic, Bolasie, Bernard, Tosun all leave the club in this window with only really Branthwaite having any hope of coming back. That’s an amazing amount of players to be deemed non essential in the middle of a season when squads are being tested by injuries. An awful lot of wages tied up in those names just to have them warming the bench or kicking balls round finch farm.

We do need reinforcements, but equally I can understand cutting the squad back to a core of players that are actually useful. Barely any of the names on the outgoings list have contributed anything to this season so why keep them around? Carlo has played Sigurdsson at striker and Digne on the wing before trusting Tosun or Bernard so why keep them around.

Wouldn't argue with cutting back the squad in this way. Non contributors off the books etc. But, like you say, we still need reinforcements as competition and cover. And, in an ideal world 2 or 3 first team players (summer window most likely).

Just took a look at the Besiktas squad on transfermarkt... If Tosun does well on his return there it might create an opportunity for us to look at a deal for Cyle Larin. He's their current top scorer, 15 goals in 24 games. 25 years old, Canadian, 6'2", 18 months left on his contract, plays on either wing and also as a CF. Apparently been linked with moves to France for around £10m.

Brands fault.

Lossl and Bernard are the only players there that Brands bought and we’ll probably make money on both of them. The squad has needed cutting for a long time but it’s not as simple as just booting out everyone you want to in one window. We’ve seen loads of players leave the club every window since Brands arrived and these are not players Brands brought in. That just points to a bloated useless squad he picked up on arrival and a stream of youngsters from the academy who aren’t good enough.

I'm all for giving young players time mate, but it was just how ineffective he was combined with his attitude - this wasn't like Werner/Havertz, giving it a go but not clicking yet. Kean just didn't want to know. Just too much to ignore.

Ferguson double subbed him a couple of months into his everton career. I suspect the embarrasment and humiliation suffered had something do do with his alleged bad behaviour.
