Hey everybody my name is Jorge Rodrigues. I have been an everton supporter for the past yr or so (new to watching BPL) and love this football club so much. I have started up a supporters group focusing on the LGBT community (or people who support LGBT rights) for everton supporters. I am doing that because I feel we can be ahead of the curve and get a huge group of people to support these supporters but also the causes they bring with it. The group's league is Rainbow Toffees- The Everton LGBT Supporters Group. I am trying to get a huge amount of support because I know globally there is a ton of people who are gay or lesbian (or who support their rights) that are evertonians. So I thought this would be a good way of bringing it to ppls attention. I am hoping to get enough support to make it the official support group from the everton football club. Thanks again guys.

Saw your link on Facebookthe other day Jorge and I fully support you efforts to unite the Everton Rainbow Army. It's nice for people to find a subset group within Everton's fan base to really belong to.

Thank you very much!!! I hope you can spread the word and get it to every person u may know who is a supporter of LGBT rights and LGBT members to be apart of a great group that has huge potential! From what I can see in the twitter page to what I am seeing in facebook page ... this group has huge potential!

I think there's as much need for an LGBT Everton supporters group as there is a need for a Heterosexual Everton supporters group.

I applaud you then for not having any prejudices whatsoever....I wish everyone were on your level...Race...Religion...Sexual Orientation...lifestyle choices...woman...man...you're on that level where it don't matter...well in.

Too bad the vast majority are still hung up on stuff...

I agree if there was an equal between heterosexual and homosexual i would have never made the group... but from that comment he made ... I guess there is!

Yeah there's no political drive here, just a group that allows GLBT Evertonians to address issues they may face and to connect with each other. It's the same as any other sub-culture group.

I'm thinking about signing up mate, is there a welcome pack at all or a prospectus I could look at first? My family don't actually know about my sexuality yet.

And maybe do a little educating?

Not that long ago, I taught a bloke English A level. Good student: diligent, reasonably intelligent and one of the lads in many respects. Southampton supporter as I recall, but nobody's perfect!

One of the lads in many ways except one, as it turned out. He was gay. Left school with a place to Bristol Uni but never got there. A week after he left school, he was found hanging under a bridge. The note explained that he couldn't face the ridicule of his peers or family over his orientation. Noone had a clue as he'd hidden it so well.

Let's hope those who don't see the need for a support group never have sons or daughters in that position.

God that's awful.

I'd hate my daughter to go to Bristol University.

Wow thanks for sharing that with us... condolences go out to his family.. but gosh if he had a support system he would have stuck it thru rather than killing himself. This group can be a support system for a ton of people if they feel they have nowhere else to turn to because of who they are.
