Everton Manager Net Spend

Worst Everton Manager spend v points

Surely the answer has to be Koeman?

Sigurdsson - £0 return (potentially £50m lost)
Keane - £0 return (and 9 years of wages; £24m down)
Schneiderlin - £20m loss
Bolasie - £0 return (potential loss of £27m)
Ashley Williams - £0 return
Klaassen £12m loss

The only signing during his reign who's proven to be useful had been DCL & Pickford.

I do maintain that Steve Walsh got a tough deal. Had Koeman and Moshiri doing what they wanted; but his track record with young signings was very, very good. Everyone we shifted we did so for a profit.
Steve Walsh had Haaland but Moshiri wouldn't spend 2 million...... Given our record of academy players making it to first team, if we had signed him he'd probably be on loan at Bradford with Everton calming that he's not ready for first team football.

Certainly had an eye.

It's easy to focus on the glaring issues that it happened under his stewardship.

But it's clear since that Moshiri and Koeman were allowed reign to overrule him and sign their men.

The people like Vlasic, Onyekuru, Lookman we made profits on. There were more hits than missus in the field he was good at.

The rest was chaos.

What's happened to Josh Bowler, Aderinan (spelling??), Markelo and Lewis Gibson? Not massive amounts from what I remember, about £15M combined, but not sure if they ever did anything or made money.

Hard to argue with punts at those price levels though. Some work, some don't.

The fact Dyche has more votes than Silva tells you all you need to know about some fans.

Richarlison, Iwobi, Mina, Kean, Gomes, Gbamin, Delph, Digne, Bernard as permanent signings all on massive wages, then huge loan fees on Zouma Gomes Sidibe. This was added to all the signings Koeman and Allardyce had already made like Walcott Tosun Siggurdson Lookman Gueye Schneiderlin

All to have us in 8th place on 54 points.

Dyche took us to 48 points whilst the club turned a profit every season, sold his best players and slashed the wage bill. This was after picking up a team in 19th place that then sold Gordon.

Yet more people think he’s got a worse net spend per point because you don’t like the fact he’s bald and ginger and prefer some Portuguese bloke who barely looked like he was arsed to be here as he pissed money up the wall?

Utterly delusional

Is it a bigger waste of money to spend over £50m and not play players (JOB, Beto, Chermiti, Danjuma)

Or spend a load of money and actually play players who contribute to the club?

As aside from Gbamin due to injury, and kean who we got all our money back on, the others all contributed and played pretty regularly for the manager.

Let me pre-empt the answer to this. All of those players were DOF signings, whereas all the ones previously attributed to Silva were not DOF signings. Because reasons.

I appreciated how he also included signings made under previous managers to make the spending out to be even higher.

Ignoring that Dyche also inherited a squad that was also expensively assembled by previous managers.

Well Bowler and Gibson are both enjoying careers in Championship

They were never given a chance impress. Bowler performed ghat well he actually got a move to a PL club (which he's still employed by).

Adeiniran and Markelo examples tbat not every youth player works out how you'd hope, but the others were players we made profits on, which other than Lukaku and Digne i don't think we did once did we over a 6-7 year spell.

You don’t seem to understand net spend

I never mentioned net spend. I asked what is a bigger waste of money?

The thread is about net spend.

Buying a load of players without selling barely anyone and saddling them with massive wages is what got us into this mess. A few of them contributed like Richarlison and Digne, most of the rest didn’t. Hamstringing the club from a PS&R point of view for years doesn’t seem much of a pay off for 52 points.

Dyche cleared up the mess alongside Thelwell keeping us in the league and taking a far worse team to 48 points whilst his best players were sold.

Night and day between the two in terms of achievements v net spend which is what the thread is about.
