Everton at Liverpool: Injury Report via Royal Blue Mersey
The Blues could be without 5 key men ahead of defining week
Before the
Southampton game,
Everton were without several key men but it was clear when the team was announced that
Romelu Lukaku and
Ross Barkley being described as 'doubtful' as precautions ahead of the important week ahead.
However Leighton Baines and
Aaron Lennon being ruled as doubtful is definitely not as a precaution with them suffering from groin and hamstring injuries, respectively. Also suffering from a hamstring injury is captain
Phil Jagielka who is out of Wednesday's short trip to
Liverpool and is even a doubt for Saturday's FA Cup Semi-Final against
Manchester United. Also out of
the derby and a doubt for Saturday is
Tom Cleverley; the former United player is reportedly suffering from a knock. As expected after coming off in the draw to Southampton,
Seamus Coleman is out of Wednesday's clash and is a major doubt for Saturday. Suspiciously well timed is the return of
Tony Hibbert; after calling the search party off, the veteran managed 45 minutes on Monday evening at Goodison Park for the youth development squad.
As for our hosts, Divock Origi is being ruled as a doubt with a back injury after staring the last few games for the Reds. Jordan Rossiter is out with a hamstring injury, Kolo Toure is out with a 'musclar injury' and
Emre Can is out with the ankle injury he suffered in that thrilling Europa League game against Borussia Dortmund that we all watched through our fingers and with gritted teeth. Also out for Liverpool is
Christian Benteke and
Jordan Henderson; who are both suffering from LCL knee ligament injuries. Also suffering from knee injuries, but in the form of ACL, are long term absentees
Danny Ings and Joe Gomez.
