Coleman, McCarthy and Lukaku are all in action today

Yesterday saw five shutouts in the two big international tournaments going on right now. World Champions Germany beat Ukraine 2-0, Croatia and Poland each took 1-0 overs Turkey and Northern Ireland, respectively. In the US, Brazil was shockingly and controversially knocked out of Copa America by Peru 1-0 while Ecuador crushed Haiti 4-0.

But more importantly, no Everton players saw the pitch on Sunday. Today, that all changes in a BIG WAY!

EVERTON PLAYER ALERT!! Both Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy seem likely to start for Ireland. Meanwhile, Aiden McGeady (on loan at Sheffield Wednesday) is probably on the bench for the Irish where former Blue Shane Duffy will join him.

Later on in the evening, Everton striker (for now) Romelu Lukaku leads Belgium against Italy. He may be joined on the field by former Evertonian Marouane Fellaini.

Onto the action for the day:

Only one Toffee on display today: Ramiro Funes Mori

Only four games today. Bummer! The Euros took away the crucial 9 a.m. game that allowed us to watch games from sunrise well past sunset. Come on now! Not cool!

Spain 1-0 Czech Republic

Ireland 1-1 Sweden

Belgium 0-2 Italy

Mexico 1-1 Venezuela

Uruguay 1-0 Jamaica

EVERTON PLAYER ALERT! Ramiro Funes Mori is back on the field for Argentina again today but his squad doesn't have much to play for. They pretty much have their group locked up barring a complete implosion.

Ronald Koeman should beware at Everton – Goodison grass is not always greener | Jacob Steinberg via The Guardian

The Dutchman is moving to a bigger club with a large fanbase and vast potential but he may soon realise a big budget brings added pressure as well as possibilities
The pessimistic view when Ronald Koeman moved to Southampton in 2014 was that he had accepted a hospital pass, bearing in mind they were struggling to absorb an intense and bruising talent drain on and off the pitch. In reality it was more like a ball from Xavi.

It is understandable that the mood at Everton is celebratory after days of protracted negotiations ended with them securing Koeman as Roberto Martínez’s replacement. After Martínez allowed his commitment to possession football to spill over into a dogmatism, a blind spot towards defending that eventually proved to be the Spaniard’s undoing, now they have a manager who has demonstrated an ability to strike the right balance between defence and attack during his impressive spell at Southampton.
