Everton reportedly set to hold Sissoko talks

Everton have reportedly revived their interest in Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko – but face competition from Juventus and Inter Milan.

The Toffees were linked with a move for the France midfielder earlier this summer but a move never materialised.

However, French daily L'Equipe reports that Everton officials are traveling to Paris this week to meet Sissoko's agent.

L'Equipe also claims that Inter officials are set to meet with Sissoko's representatives in the French capital while the Daily Mail reports Juventus have already held talks over a possible deal.

Sissoko remains determined to leave Newcastle this summer in order to play top-flight football and had publicly welcomed interest from Real Madrid.

However, the Spanish side have yet to follow-up their interest leaving Sissoko in limbo at St James' Park.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez understands Sissoko's plight and is willing to sell the 27-year-old – but only at the right price.

Benitez values Sissoko at a rather hefty £35m and re-iterated at the weekend his determination not to let him go on the cheap.

Speaking after his side's home defeat to Huddersfield, Benitez said:

"If someone thinks if they will wait until August 31 it will be easier, I can guarantee them it will be more difficult.

"If someone wants to come, they have to come now with the right offer and we will analyse that… If not, he is still our player."

Trio of Premier League clubs reportedly interested

Everton have reportedly turned down an a number of enquiries for James McCarthy and say the midfielder remains in Ronald Koeman's plans.

[Publication is blacklisted due to spam] Sport claims new Sunderland boss David Moyes as well as Swansea and Southampton have approached Everton about the midfielder's availability.

However, Everton have apparently rebuffed those advances and insist the 25-year-old is going nowhere.

McCarthy has been linked with a move away from Goodison this summer following the arrival of Idrissa Gueye from Aston Villa.

Despite the speculation McCarthy started for the Toffees against Tottenham on Saturday, though he was out of position at right wing-back.

The impressive performances of Gueye and Gareth Barry against Spurs suggest McCarthy won't be starting in the centre of midfield anytime soon though.

Should further midfield reinforcements arrive McCarthy may even push for a move himself, though Everton would likely demand a hefty fee.

McCarthy is currently tied to the club until 2020 after signing a new five-year deal in the summer of 2015.
