All the goals, chances, saves and more from Everton’s game

Everton came from behind to beat West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns for their first win under manager Ronald Koeman. The Blues got off to a false start by conceding within eight minutes from a corner.

However, a tactical change of bringing on Romelu Lukaku before halftime paid dividends and the Toffees were level from a neatly-worked goal by Kevin Mirallas. And then Everton took the lead through a Gareth Barry header at the hour mark.

The visitors were forced to dig deep as the Baggies threw everything at them late in the game, but thanks to some determined team defence, Koeman came away with three points.

Man of the Match and Player Grades Poll for Everton against West Brom via Royal Blue Mersey

Vote on how you think the players did today

Everton won 2-1 at West Bromwich Albion to finally kickstart their Premier League season, coming from behind to take all three points.

West Brom scored first, with a header (of course) from a corner (of course) where Everton were in shambles (of course).

However, manager Ronald Koeman didn’t even wait till halftime to make changes. He yanked James McCarthy who was out of his depth out on the right wing and brought in Romelu Lukaku, with Gerard Deulofeu returning to his regular position.

Everton immediately got better and Kevin Mirallas finished off a neat passing move between Gareth Barry and Ross Barkley to score and tie the game at the break.

The Blues kept up their attacking resurgence in the second half and Barry scored the second and eventual matchwinner on a header, the ball coming across the area from a Mason Holgate mis-hit.

In the dying minutes of the game the visitors had chances to put the game out of sight with Lukaku the biggest culprit, but ended up resorting to some terrific team defending, and a stellar performance from captain Phil Jagielka to maintain the lead.

Vote in the poll below for how you think the Everton players did today against the Baggies.
