Championship
Ipswich Town - Matthew Pennington played full match and was booked in 1-1 home draw with Derby County

OS Match Report
"Matt Pennington did well to hold up Lawrence as the Wales international raced into the box"
"Pennington heading over from a Judge delivery as Town looked the more likely to add to the scoreline."
"...with Bennett denied by Pennington’s excellent tackle inside the area."
"Knudsen was thwarted again after more great work by Pennington"

Twitter stuff
21' Martyn Waghorn goes into the book. He thought he was fouled by Pennington, but it goes Town's way. [0-1]
44' Lawrence looks as if he's got beyond the Town defence, but Pennington does very well to get back & cover. [0-1]
74' Really important challenge from Pennington as he slides in to deny Nugent. [1-1]
86' Chance for Town. Judge's delivery is nodded back by Pennington to Dozzell who is in a great area, but his shot is blocked. [1-1]
90' Pennington now goes into the book for bringing down Bennett. [1-1]

Fan comment
"Pennington was an absolute rock."

Sheffield United - Kieran Dowell played full match in 1-0 home win over Middlesbrough

OS Match Report
"Flint was forced off with a hamstring problem for the visitors, before Shotton was booked for a lunge on Dowell."
"United seized a numerical advantage as Ayala was sent off for another mistimed challenge, this time on Dowell."

Fan comments
"Dowell is quality."
"I thought Dowell did very well"
"Dowell 7/10 - Decent - at times carried it well and was a threat and he carried the ball. Neat and tidy and quite mobile. A few things came off, a few did not. He did tire a bit but drew the 2nd yellow. Towards the end he looked dead on his feet as shown by the socks being right rolled up round his ankles!"

Beni Baningime and Antonee Robinson not in matchday squads.

....so much more positive for Dowell and Pennington.

Looks like Dowell and Pennington are at the right clubs for their respective abilities, one at a club with a bit of class where hopefully his style and hard work can be developed, the other at a club fighting relegation where it seems like he’s manning up and showing his defensive qualities in a poor side.

Re ex Everton players, I saw on transfer deadline night that Courtney Duffus and Calum Dyson were being loaned out to lower clubs, can’t remember the details though.

Dowell always seem to do well on loan but when he was given a chance in friendlies/cup games he looks average at best, weird.

Well there’s at least two camps on the reasons for that.
1 He excelled in the Championship and that’s his level.
2 He’s still young with potential to develop and needs a run of games to show what he’s got, as happened at Notts Forest.
Not one for this thread though, both camps have/ continue to discuss in his own thread.

Dowell played left wing back last night apparently. Getting rave reviews from their fans, with lots of comments about his work rate and getting stuck in. Great to hear, as there is no doubt the talent is there, just question marks over his application in the past.
