Not open for further replies.

Got to give him some allowances for his first pro game lol His turn in the box took some skill and his passing was good, hopefully the experience he'll get down in league 2 will help him develop the other areas of his game.
Don't mind him doing it while he's on loan, best to get it out of his system now. It'll toughen him up in L2.And as you said the passes he played point to a bright future.

Championship
Fulham - Luke Garbutt played full match in 2-3 away defeat against Wolves

OS Match Report
"Some composed Fulham build-up on 42 minutes almost ended in an own goal when Luke Garbutt's wicked cross was headed a fraction wide by the towering centre-back Ethan Ebanks-Landell."

Twitter stuff
42' Garbutt fizzes in a cross from the left flank which is well dealt with by Ebanks-Landell.

They seem to rate him highly but recently there have been quite a few comments about how he needs resting.
Yeah that's it in a nutshell and maybe a bit worrying , certainly something Everton need to keep an eye on. It seems to mirror concerns about his performance early season when he was dropped/rested for EnglandU19s and wasn't playing regularly for us and nobody could figure out what was happening. He came back from whatever"it" was playing as well as ever. He's still only 18, if he needs to be rested someone should make that decision for him, he's a high energy, highly combatitive player who probably won't want to be rested.

It also needs to be taken into consideration that this will be the most he's ever played, he doesn't get this many fixtures at U21 level. If he's looking worse than he was at the beginning of the season he should probably be taken out of the team for a week or two.

Roundup from yesterday:

Championship
Fulham - Luke Garbutt played full match and was booked in 1-1 away draw against Huddersfield

OS Match Report
"A smart move on the left, orchestrated by Luke Garbutt, resulted in a goal-mouth scramble on 42 minutes with Kačaniklić’s 12-yard strike blocked by three pairs of Huddersfield legs, as the Whites ended the first half in the ascendancy."
"Impressive footwork in the centre circle from Lasse Vigen Christensen helped set Garbutt away on the left on 56 minutes and the left-back rifled a strike wide of goal when perhaps he was better placed to cross."

Twitter stuff
60' Luke Garbutt tries his luck from the corner of the area but he sliced his kick and it drops shy of the near post. 1-1
68' Yellow card for Garbutt for a foul on the halfway line. He's convinced he got the ball though. 1-1

"What a class act this lad is. Would love us to do a deal for this lad and build a team around him. It's clear to see his future lies at a level above league 1. We'll struggle to replace him next season that's for sure if we can't agree anything. His touch and vision is a class above. Top player"
"Agree he's a really good player but I thought he was poor today. Just needs to cut the bad games out. Would be amazing if we could get him. Hard to see it though."
"Absolute world beater."
"Since he's been with us it's been a simple case of when he plays well, we win, and when he plays poor (to his standards), we lose. Today he was average (to his standards), we drew!"
"Very classy player, reminds me a bit of Steve Lister in his prime, did think he was average today though, would really love to see him more on the ball & dominate games, great player."

Division Two
Cambridge Utd - Ryan Ledson started and was subbed in 77th minute in 0-0 away draw at Luton

OS Match Report
"As was the case in the first half though, both sides produced bursts of positive play and during the U’s opening spell of the second period Ryan Ledson drilled a low attempt to the left of Luton’s target."

Twitter stuff
60' Ledson shuffles with the ball and drills a low shot to the left of the Luton target 0-0
Ball in from Ledson is headed away by Luton for a corner
United continuing to pile the pressure on Luton as Donaldson replaces Ledson

Random fan comments
"Improved from Roberts and Ledson"
"And I would select Hughes over Ledson or Newton everytime as they are just not cutting it for me."

Yeovil - Liam Walsh started, was booked and was subbed in the 86th minute in 1-2 away defeat at Morecambe

OS Match Report
"Town were the better side and kept looking for the opening goal of the day. On 40 minutes Compton’s run on the right was well found by Walsh, but as the former Hartlepool man tricked his way past his marker to fire at goal, his shot was well parried away by Roche."

Twitter stuff
17: Fleming gets booked for a high foot on Walsh.
73: Walsh goes into the book for a hard tackle on Kenyon.
86: Campbell comes on to replace Walsh.

National League North

Stockport County - Delial Brewster played full match and scored in a 1-1 home draw against Nuneaton

OS match report
"Marsden and Brewster both unleashed shots that led to corners"
"The big substitute soon linked up well with Ledsham to set up Brewster, who shot wide of the left post - having done likewise a little earlier, after being played through by Joe Garvin. But for Brewster, it was a case of third time lucky. Running onto a delightful flick by Odejayi, the Everton youth-loanee showed a great turn of pace before rounding Smith and slotting home for his second goal in a County shirt."

Twitter stuff
83' | Good build-up involving Odejayi and Ledsham on the left, before Brewster shoots wide of the left post.
GOOAALL! (85') | Brewster, you bew-ty! Dellal runs clear onto a flicked ball from Odejayi, before firing home. Get in!

Unofficial match report (with photos)
"Early doors saw Brewster again busily hustling for scraps…chasing this and that…..nothing came of any of it….but you could not help but think that the lad would again be looking to give us 100% effort."
"There was perhaps another 4 or 5 minutes where County, seemingly in relaxed mood, pushed forward……Brewster foiled by Smith as he went for Marsden’s through ball. Another run by the County number nine won us a corner, but the danger passed when Menagh failed to find a blue shirt with it."
"County kept trying to sneak something, but Ledsham’s through ball saw Smith snaffle the pill off Brewster toes, following which Lyttle added his ten pennyworth by cutting out Brewster’s through ball before the intended recipient Marsden could get to it."
"After this….Brewster won a corner, but Smalley could not force the ball home from this, and we needed our forwards to take the available chances if we were going to get back into the game."
"Brewster did treat us to a neat run which took him to the by-line, but he could only hit the side netting with his shot, and in view of the quality of the approach play this was disappointing."
"I was just wondering when all this pressure would result in a break by Nuneaton and a second goal, when my cynicism got the old onesey/ twosey as the much maligned Odejayi fashioned his trademark flick on to send Brewster scurrying clear. There was loads to do, and again I …and I am guessing a sizeable number of those present…. thought the chance had gone when Brewster drifted away from goal. Yes….he had drawn the keeper off his line but the angle was acute, but he made light of all this by burying a lovely finish way beyond anything Smith could produce in response, into the net!"
