So what would all the other league club sides do such as plymoth, colchester etc
People who think this is a good idea are the same people who fume about making the eiropean cup invite only.
But its the same thing, bigger clubs just doing what they want and to hell with anyone else

From a green roots side of it, it's all a benefit to the FA

its not really though, why would plymouth etc complain if theres a club in their league that isnt allowed to get promoted?
I think someone said it here before that one of the main reasons is a lack of match day revenue i.e.no away fans or a very small number.

Also a lot dislike the idea of a league having 'fake' clubs in it. Ones that have no history or fans and are just there as a convenience to a bigger club.

Suppose also we could send a quality under 21 team out one week but not the next and that could be seen as unfair to teams battling for promotion, relegation and livelyhoods.
Why is the north and south not joined up into one complete league where there would be more games?travel costs?

This B Team in a league is never going to happen for the reasons given around smaller clubs. A B team will always block another team . Even if they say they couldn't get promotion from Laegue 2 they would be taking up a spot in League2 that a Conference /National League team such as Wrexham, Tranmere, Southport could be occupying , therefore the smaller clubs would never vote for it. Real Supporters of smaller clubs down the league are as passionate about their teams as we are about Everton , why would they ever support a position that say allows 5 or 6 PL clubs to rise up the leagues blocking promotion to a league above them .

It is one league at U 21 level , but only 22 games from 12 teams. It's u 18 which has N&S leagues, 22 games then they join up for extra 7 games, 29 games which with FA Youth Cup , tournaments like Dallas is probabably reasonable for that age.
Cheers lad was getting the two mixed up in my head there.it's a pity the under 21 league hasn't more teams.

Forgive the stupidity, but have plans never been proposed to mirror the leagues? games before the seniors, champions and relegation. Everyone talks about the lack of competitiveness at that level, am wondering where we actually pinpoint that to improve it.

....geography is an issue, leagues regionalised to cut down on travel/costs etc. I suppose there could be a reserve league, however, that does replicate the Premier League.

Aye i get the geography - but we are trying to breed the youngsters to understand that every action has an outcome on a game. There has to be something done

We hear Martinez (and many other managers) that what we have now isn't competitive enough, we see young lads go out to teams who talk about they realise that every game they have to fight for every tackle because it could mean the difference between staying up or going doing, winning the league or winning nothing.

Something has to change to bring the competitive nature everyone seems to want for our youngsters.

National League
Barrow - Michael Donohue played full match in 0-0 home draw with Boreham Wood

I also think that was the end of Michael Donohue's month loan but hopefully that can be extended, but if we play as narrow as we did tonight again he's somewhat wasted tbh.
Well we're back to weighing up pros and cons of loans for 18 year olds. U 18s have won the three games since he's been away , so others have stepped in, u 21 s maybe if he returned ? but maybe not. On balance I would get him back, put him in the squad for Dallas and have him available for the remaining 6 U18 PL games which is now down to best 8 teams in the country, so there will be some very competitive games coming up. Nice to see he made a good impression at Barrow .

Agreed. I live in Cambridge and their fans are just as passionate about Cambridge as we are about Everton. Their rivals are Peterborough, Stevenage and Luton not Liverpool or Manchester United.

What I think could be considered are partnerships between clubs so that Everton could have 2 teams (one in League 1 and one in League 2) who they could loan up to 4 players to at any one time providing they were U21.

This would allow PL clubs to supply a full time mentor/coach to work with the partner clubs to make sure the style of coaching matched their "philosophy". Logically Everton would parter with the likes of Preston/Blackpool/Fleetwood/Tranmere so the players could still use the Finch Farm facilities and live at home.

It would allow younger players experience proper games and be a small enough group that they wouldn't dominate the club.

Missed this one (it had been postponed because of snowfall)

Swiss Super League
Grasshopper Zurich - Shani Tarashaj played full match in 0-2 away defeat at St Gallen (who played all but 17 minutes with 10 men)

Few fan comments
"Shani is much better playing behind the forward than out on the wing - yesterday showed it again."
"Tarashaj wasn't too bad. Tried but it didn't help when he was put out on the wing after Tabakovic's substitution. Despite his size he is not so explosive..." (quick?)
"Dabbur and Shanj already have their heads elsewhere, and because of that nothing works in attack..."
