Everton players out on loan (2015/16)

Excellent news that has brought a big smile to my face. Callum Connolly is one of my favourite players in our "Golden Generation" . I think he's got it all for a player of his age - solid defender in both full back positions, developed enough physically to also play Centre Back, can play midfield if needed , has an uncanny knack of getting into the box at the right time to score goals with both feet and head.

Barnsley would seem to be the right place for him, League 1 pushing for promotion play off place, a sound club for developing people, a great move. LB is probably our most competitive position in the club and he's what 5th choice there, so a long , long way to go to see if he can reach PL standards , good luck to him will look out for reports with much interest.

Don't really bet very much if at all but think he may be one to watch & worth a go first goalsscorer each week the bookies most likely won't realise he has scored for fun from defence & his odds will be too high for his goal threat

Good move that they try & play football & we have obviously taken stones & holgate from them so nice to give a bit back
Agreed. They played pretty decent football when we beat them earlier this season and, like you say, we've nabbed some of their most promising players recently. Looks like a win/win scenario, and one we should look to repeat with some more of our youngsters.

Championship
Fulham - Luke Garbutt played full match in 2-2 away draw at Reading

Luke Garbutt is so unimpressive, Everton should probably ease up on the whole 'next Baines' stuff, on his showing for Fulham, he's not going to be Baines any time soon.

League One
Doncaster Rovers - Conor Grant played full match in 0-1 home defeat to Shrewsbury Town

1' Butler calmly passes from the back to Grant, Rovers building play up well here 0-0
9' Another corner for Rovers on the left this time. Grant takes...LUND HEADS AT GOAL..... but he is just underneath it and it goes over the bar 0-0
Rovers attack, GOOCH is alive today,he plays in Grant who crosses into the box after some skills, HANDBALL is the shout,PLAY ON says the ref
19' Knight-Percival (yellow card) now getting involved in the chopping down of players. Conor Grant the latest victim. Freekick to Rovers
45+1' Calder explodes forward and wins Rovers a freekick on the edge. Dead centre GRANT TAKES....it hits the wall but Rovers still have it
54' Calder doing his best to keep us warmer....his skills win us a corner...Grant takes...BUTLER gets his big head to that but it's cleared OFF THE LINE 0-0
Grant takes, it falls to Williams at the back stick who heads into the ground and it bounces over 0-1

Whole thread about Conor Grant (who apparently ducked/missed a near post corner for Shrewsbury goal)

Barnsley - Callum Connolly made his debut, played whole match and was booked in 3-1 away win at Walsall

OS Match Report

Twitter stuff
81: Connolly goes into the book for the Reds. Walsall have a man injured and they've used all three subs 1-3

Wigan Athletic - Conor McAleny started and was taken off injured at half time in 1-1 home draw with Peterborough

OS Match Report
"Conor McAleny was next to try his luck from distance in the 29th minute, but the ball was deflected for a corner, from which Jason Pearce headed just wide."
"Moore then had to clear at the second attempt from McAleny’s drive before Wildschut screwed an effort just wide of the post."
"Latics suffered a double injury blow either side of half-time as McAleny limped off, replaced by McCann and Pearce failed to reappear after the break, replaced by Leon Barnett."

Twitter stuff
25' @ry_coco and @CMcAleny link up right side, McAleny pulls it back for @power_m4 on the edge of the area, his effort blocked! (0-0)
30' WIDE! @CMcAleny with a solid effort from distance, but it's deflected to Moore's left. Pearce's heads wide from the corner. (0-0)
31' Corner to Latics. McAleny's shot blocked, before @yanicw33's run down the left by-line is stopped. (0-0)
40' CHANCE! Another stinging @CMcAleny shot parried by Moore! Tight angle down the right. (0-0)
44' OVER! Morgan's free kick knocked down by Grigg for McAleny, he darts inside, but lashes over left footed! (0-0)
45+4' SUB: Latics forced into a second change in the first half, @CMcAleny limped off to be replaced by @cjmccann7. (0-0)

Caldwell's decisions are baffling at times, why on earth he keeps playing the lightweight McAleny who contributes very little is bizarre, when he keeps Vuckic who is a genuine link up player out
He had little choice with the personnel selection for the first two subs and indeed McCann was an improvement on the Everton lad who looked poor once again in a home game.

League Two
Cambridge Utd - Ryan Ledson started and was substituted on 60th minute in 0-1 home defeat to Exeter

OS Match Report

Twitter stuff
10' Superb cross from Ledson forces Brown to flick away for a U's corner 0-0
Two quickfire shots from Spencer and Ledson has sparked the U's into life
DOUBLE SUB: Ledson and Dunk off for Ryan Donaldson and Zeli Ismail

Random fan comments (from loan extension thread)
We can all see the talent Ledson has got but blows a little hot and cold - to be expected with one so young I guess.
Ledson is a bit of an enigma - the quality is all there, about that there is no doubt, but he's finding it hard to stamp it over 90 minutes. That said, he's a quality player and one who will undoubtedly go on to greater things, hopefully looking back on his time with us with a lot of pride. I honestly feel he is going to score an absolute screamer for us before long, he's not afraid to have a shot, and if he connects with one (in the right direction!) it will no doubt be spectacular!
Have been massively impressed by Ledson overall, but is a red card waiting to happen.

Oxford Utd - Jonjoe Kenny played full match in 2-2 away draw at Plymouth

OS Match Report
"Bowery snapped a shot over the top on 39 and Jonjoe Kenny fired wide seconds before the break when his first goal was there for the taking, but United had been ruthless and were good value for their half-time lead."

Twitter stuff
8' Kenny covers a long ball and sees it out to claim the throw. Dunkley is the first victim of the surface; he slips as he clears 0-0
9' Wylde tries to beat Kenny on the far side to get the cross in. Argyle corner. Hartley flicks towards goal with his heel 0-0
20' Jervis is played onside by Kenny as Reid chips over Dunkley, but the U's defence drop quickly to deny any cross. 1-1
21' Kenny plays forward as Roofe runs through. His cross is there to be met by Bowery and Hylton, but is cleared. 1-1
39' Kenny is on the run, before laying out to Sercombe. His cross takes a deflection off a defender. Corner - U's 1-2
45' #OUFC face a short period of attacking pressure from Argyle, but Kenny chests home to Slocombe to put an end to that. 1-2
45+1' Kenny powers into the area and fires goalbound as the ball falls away from Hylton, but it goes just wide. 1-2
49' A superb cross from @Only1Argyle's Jervis is headed off the bar, before Kenny clears the second shot off the line. Still 1-2
77' The danger is back in the Argyle penalty area from Slocombe's kick. Kenny takes a throw in - O'Dowda turns and wins a second 2-2

National League
Barrow - Michael Donohue started and was subbed in 80th minute in 2-0 away win at Boreham Wood (apparently took corner for one of the goals)

No match report as yet

Twitter stuff
Barrow substitution: Pilkington replaces Donohue, who's played very well this afternoon on his second appearance for Barrow.

Random fan comments
Most of the Barrow danger came from the little lad from Everton who had a few tricks and put in some nice crosses.
Jordan Williams and Michael Donohue worked well without much reward for their endeavours.

Liam Walsh still ill/injured? Tarashaj's game on Monday evening postponed.

Many thanks like always mate.

Fantastic opportunity for Connoly, really hope he does well! Has flown under the radar, been a very good performer for our U/21's.

It's interesting that Barnsley put him straight in at RB. There has been talk about their own talented 18 year old RB James Bree being a player to watch. Not sure if he's out injured and Connolly was seen as a straight replacement. It's great that he can be pitched straight in to a tricky away encounter at RB, although he's played there for our U21s he's been mainly a LB , ........., except when he's played in the centre back role , or midfield ...! Great experience for him to get.

Thats very interesting isnt it as i was also thinking we may move for Bree this summer simply based on nothing but the Barnley fan who came on here after we signed Stones and thenn Holgate from them. I was thinking he may be signed as cover for coleman andone of he or kenny would be loaned.

i thought connolly was a left back though?

It looks like Garbutt at fulham has been a disasterr and wont do much for his chances with us and also doesnt seem to be giving him great exposure for a sale either...mcaleny also poor a usual it seems.

then grant probably off this summer as has been written here as his contract is up.

ledon walsh and connolly ones to watch

he is normally but versatile enough to right side, centre back or midfield.
