Championship
Fulham - Luke Garbutt played full game in 0-2 home defeat to Middlesbrough

OS Match Report

Random fan comment
We are dire. We keep hoofing down the left to Garbut who is worse than useless today. They are bossing us all over the field.

(Re comments earlier in the thread, it appears that he was playing on left of 3-5-2 formation.)

League One
Doncaster Rovers - Conor Grant played full match in 1-1 home draw with Millwall

OS Match Report
"More brilliant work from Tyson set Conor Grant through on goal. With an option to square the ball or go for goal he looked to place it past Archer at the near post but again Millwall man made an excellent save to keep the scores level."

Twitter stuff
21' Freekick to Rovers wide right . Grant is behind it...It hits a defenders head and lobs into the arms of Archer who then clears 0-1
26' Grant picks the ball up and drives towards goal, he lets rip from 25 yards and it goes just wide 0-1
79' Chaplow into Middleton, into Grant, out to Evina but his cross is blocked, Rovers still have the ball 1-1
CHOPPED: Grant absolutely whacked by Thompson. He gets a yellow card.
Grant is through on goal, he can square it but he shoots and it's saved 1-1

Random fan comments
On the other hand I thought Gooch and Grant linked up very well in the second half. Clearly he is not going to be a target man because of his size but he has a solid level of technical ability similar to Grant.
Conor Grant – Looked rusty in the first half but was back to his best in the second half. Grant always wanted the ball and created space time and time again only for a team mate to look elsewhere. As our best attacking midfielder the young Everton loanee has a big part to play for the remainder of the season.

Wigan Athletic - Conor McAleny started on bench and was brought on in 65th minute in 3-0 win over Bury

League Two
Oxford Utd - Jonjoe Kenny played full match and was booked in 2-1 away win at Wimbledon

OS Match Report
"Back came Wimbledon, Buchel making another outstanding save from giant forward Elliott on 74 and Dunkley, Kenny, Mullins and Skarz threw their bodies into blocks and challenges; the whole side defending for their lives when required and looking increasingly dangerous on the break."

Twitter stuff
10' Wimbledon break past Kenny and MacDonald, but Elliott's slide to meet the through ball means he can't get a cross in 0-1
12' Sercombe steals away from the feet of Elliott before moving smoothly past him and squaring to Kenny. 0-1
14' Another throw in for the U's, which Kenny comes to take. Sercombe lobs into the area, Hylton meets... Roos saves. Still 0-1
15' Kenny powers a ball off the Wimbledon attacker but he's unlucky and it stays in play. Mullins blocks the cross. Corner 0-1
17' Another U's throw in. Kenny takes. O'Dowda creates space and uses MacDonald. O'Dowda crosses and Sercombe flicks on. Saved 0-1
21' Save! Great touch from Buchel to put Rigg's header over the bar. Barcham created the chance for Wimbledon, overpowering Kenny 0-1
22' The corner lands in the middle of the area but is cleared. Barcham chases down and lumps it back in. Kenny hoofs up field 0-1
37' Superb pace and clearance from Kenny as Barcham is through from Elliott's overhead kick. Wimbledon corner 1-1
43' U's corner which Maguire takes to the back post. Dunkley heads in but it doesn't reach Hylton. Kenny's shot blocked. 1-1
86' YELLOW | Kenny is booked after fouling Meades out wide. 1-2
90+1' Kenny connects with a cross but it loops above him. He gets behind it again and powers out of the ground 1-2

Random fan comments
Kenny 5 - A real tough game for him. Targeted by Wimbledon a lot and turned into trouble more than once. A green performance from him and one he'll learn from.
Kenny - for an 18 year old he stood up to the test pretty well and maybe a touch harsh on him (referring to above comment)

Cambridge Utd - Ryan Ledson played full match in 1-2 away defeat to Portsmouth

Too many poor performances. Spencer, Haynes, O'Neill and Ledson all fall into that category.
What does Ledson do exactly? The bloke is absolute pony.

National League
Barrow - Michael Donohue gets to make his much-delayed debut and plays full match in 2-2 home draw with Forest Green

Comments from short match report on fan forum
"Jordan Williams was the headline inspiration from the bench, dazzling with purpose and quick feet. Williams' introduction, and the urgency of being 0-2 down, soon brought left-wing partner Nick Anderton into attack mode to now give us free-running width both sides, the left now emulating the threat provided on the right by the persistent and promising Everton loanee Michael Donohue. Stretched and tiring, Forest Green - on the receiving end of a game-long battering from Andy Cook, twisted and turned by Donohue, met by overdue physical sturdiness in midfield from Andy Parry and Dan Rowe, and at the end of their second arduous away journey of the week - faded."
"Still we came forward, pressing for the winner, the excellent Donohue probing until the last. It was uplifting stuff."

Random fan comments
Young Michael Donohue looks a more than capable acquisition given a little more freedom and maybe we finally do have two midfielders that can compete with the best even if it is only for the short term!
The Everton lad looks useful.
Donahue looked a promising prospect, perhaps a little lightweight at the moment but I'll watch his progress with interest.

Grasshoppers Zurich playing in Liechtenstein today at 13.45 local time.

Seems like knee-jerking is common amongst all fans. Wasn't that long ago that they were saying Ledson was a fantastic prospect, and now he's utter garbage. I suppose it's good to keep him grounded. I await Yeovil fans saying Walsh is rubbish when he has a dip in form.
Those Cambridge fans seem generally bi polar they either hate him or love him

Bit like GOT really. If they win/he has a good game, the ones that like him post. If they lose/he has a bad game, the other ones that aren't impressed post.

I was going to mention this in the previous post (but it was getting too long anyway): despite the fact that there are obviously different levels of enthusiasm of club staff updating Twitter and fans on forums for the various clubs, I think it is noticeable that certain loan players tend to 'feature' more in comments and others are quite often are unremarked. I tend to use that as my own bookmark of how much a loan player is getting out of his time away - whether or not he is having an impact or whether he is just another squad player.

Certainly, of the loans to league teams, Grant, Kenny and Walsh tend to feature frequently, with Ledson tending towards that side as well. On the other hand, Henen and Garbutt don't tend to have vast amounts of comments or matchday stream Tweets.
(Sure, in the case of Garbutt, he is playing at a higher level but he is older theoretically closer to our matchday squad. Henen has suffered from injuries. I would say McAleny might be getting more involvement at a lower level with Wigan than in his Charlton spell but he really does need to start tearing it up in League One at his age and with the players we have brought in.)

In fairness, GOT remains supreme when it comes to random dismissive comments when the team or person performs poorly . My favourites were in the Youth Team thread after the u18 had lost 1-0 to Villa in the FA youth cup, a whole generation were dismissed with " well I guess they're not much good then." I also love the random use of previously obscure words, well to me, to describe the poorness of performance. Those other fans are actually better than us at it when they describe loanees performance. I hope to redress the balance in the near future by describing someone's performance as " Unlievable performance , pure Farsi " or " That performance was pure and utter Farsi"

Swiss Super League
Grasshoppers Zurich - Shani Tarashaj played entire game and was booked in 1-1 away draw against Vaduz

From short report from local paper:
The game: The two teams felt each other out for the first 25 minutes and there were no chances for either side. Then Grasshoppers' top scorer Munas Dabbur converted a deserved penalty (25.) after a foul on Shani Tarashaj. After this Vaduz had a few chances that they couldn't do anything with. Shani Tarashaj just missed with the first real chance from open play for the Zurich team but his shot went narrowly wide.

I see Jonjoe Kenny's loan at Oxford has been extended by another month.

While it makes sense in some ways to monitor it on a monthly basis, and there may be better options out there for him, it would undoubtedly also do him good to have a commitment to the end of the season, trip to Wembley and involvement in a promotion campaign . Only involvement in the first team squad would make it worth while bringing him back early , but we have cover for Coleman in Oviedo , if necessary, Pennington, Gethin Jones , Mason Holgate , even Stones. Give him another year and he'll hopefully be our No 2, No 2.

No way have Doncaster got a player called Gooch lol

Where does he play, in the hole? Or just in front of it?

Ledson man of the match.
Kenny played really well too..

Nice for Ledson, think that's his second MoM recently , and mixed in with the odd criticism from Camb fans. Given his age it's hardly surprising that at times he appears jaded or lacking consistency. Another who's team is fighting for something , a play off place, can't replicate that at FF.

League One
Wigan - Conor McAleny started and played 65 minutes in 0-0 away draw at Millwall (Wigan played with 10 men for much of the match)

OS Match Report
"Jed Wallace forced Jussi Jaaskelainenen into a fingertip save from distance before Byron Webster headed over from a Wallace free-kick but Latics responded well when Chris McCann back-heeled Conor McAleny’s low cross into the path of David Perkins, only a great tackle from Webster preventing a clean strike on goal."
"Latics actually finished the half on top, with shots from Colclough and McAleny going wide..."

Twitter stuff
"19' Excellent football down the left, McAleny, Perkins and McCann linking up, Perkins denied by a last-ditch challenge. Corner."

Doncaster - Conor Grant played full match in 0-2 away defeat at Swindon

23' Freekick to Rovers wide left...Grant takes it into the box, Swindon clear but Rovers still have the ball 0-0
40' Good pressure from Rovers forcing the keeper to make an error, it falls to Chaplow who plays in Grant. He shoots....just wide 0-0
45+1' Corner to Rovers...Grant takes but Swindon clear and break...GOAL SWINDON 1-0
49' Swindon on the counter again, the ball is played to Iandolo on the edge of the area, great shooting position but Grant cuts out

League Two
Cambridge Utd - Ryan Ledson started and played 78 minutes, had an assist for the goal and, as mentioned above, got MOTM in 1-0 home win over Wycombe

OS Match Report
"Ryan Ledson and Jimmy Spencer put in early testers at goal for the U’s, both though were unable to find the target"

Twitter stuff
2' The ball comes back out from the initial corner but Ledson whips a fine shot back towards the far post which clips the top of the net
23' The defnder heads towards goal from Ledson's cross, takes wicked deflection but he'll certainly be claiming it! 1-0

Random fan comment
Really satisfying performance tonight. Thought Ledson, Dunne and Norris were particularly outstanding.

Oxford Utd - Jonjoe Kenny played full match in 4-0 home win over York City

OS Match Report
"Liam Sercombe and the terrific Jonjoe Kenny (twice) saw shots beaten away as United tried to find a second goal that would surely kill the game off before half time..."

Twitter stuff
35' MacDonald swings at a ball in the area but misses. Sercombe picks up and shoots - SAVED! It falls to Kenny - shoots - SAVED! 1-0
51' Great block from Skarz at the back. A second ball comes in across the box but Kenny has it well covered. 1-0
52' Ilesanmi isn't getting anywhere as Kenny, Sercombe and Hylton all close him down at once. He gives in and puts the ball out. 1-0
74' Great ball from O'Dowda on the wing for an onrunning Kenny. His cross finds Roofe, who turns, but finds no-one 2-0
90' As the fourth official shows that there will be 4 additional minutes, Kenny shoots from a Hylton pass - saved by Ingham 4-0

Random fan comments
Anyone know his contract situation with Everton? I reckon he is a very good prospect for the future and could play in League 1 for us next season. (meaning a season loan)
Having seen him a few times now I think he's solid enough, but still a downgrade on Baldock.

And a word for poor Michael Donohue who saw the third game (out of four) of his loan spell called off at Barrow last night.
