I mean if you put DC United in the Premier League they would be pretty rich.

It's solely down the finances. English teams receive more money than Italian teams, Spanish teams, French teams all put together, so you could say that teams in the EPL are under-achieving. Plus the money is a double-edged sword, the more money that your teams get, the more temptation there is to buy overseas players, therefore stagnating young English players and that will affect the England national team.

And yes, the snobbery in England about Scottish football is... strange. I watch as much EPL as I do SPL and honestly, take out the top 5 teams in the EPL and the differences between the leagues aren't that different. I mean, Burnley finished 6th for heaven's sake. Burnley play Aberdeen next week is a Euro qualifier, judging by the noises down south Burnley should win this one 10:0 on aggregate.
