Everton reopen talks with Sam Allardyce

Surely this is now imminent, even by Everton standards.

Who would have believed this 2 months ago.

I'm not as confident we can get out of this than I was before actually, but at least we are going to have someone who knows survival battles inside and out.

I just don't think we have the luxury of thinking we are too good to go down, nor press ahead with someone unaccustomed to the wrong end of the table. It may not be that there is any quick turnaround.

Spurs turned to Redknapp, and Liverpool had to appoint Hodgson and also bring Dalglish out of obscurity. That is not letting the board off the hook, far from it, but it does underline that appointments are made in the context of particular circumstances at the time, and you cut your cloth accordingly. There is no queue of elite managers fighting to take over here.

Get it done, and get on with the job. I cannot envisage anything worse than going down.

Likewise you want to risk us going down for the sake of appointing a 'cooler' manager who'll sod off straight away if we do go down.

At least the board show more concern about the club by wanting to ensure we stay in the Premier League than some of the 'fans' on here.
That's utter rubbish mate. The board have waited 5 weeks, and are reportedly now going to go for someone who could have been appointed on day one. He's also a terrible manager with a history of causing clubs massive long term problems, and a disgraceful human being to boot. But yeah, i'm just bothered about someone cool coming in.

We're not in the bottom 3 this is desperation and panic if ever I've ever seen it. That will be our new aspirations now under Sam stay up wahooo

You're right we're not in the bottom 3 but have you seen how easily we conceded 9 goals in the last 2 games and both teams missed a host of chances.

If our defending doesn't pick up soon we'll go in to free fall.

Many forget our “dogs of war” wasn’t pretty either. Royle came in and changed mentality to fight to what was also a previous surrender. This man is best suited to do the same and from here on in especially the derby is to tackle anything that moves. The desire galvanised us then and it will again.

The Silva thing is by the by IMO. Watford have every right to knock us back to stay in the prem and have done. That ship has sailed. Comes to summer other managers and other situations will pop up.

IF Unsworth won a few games and we were further up the table, then keep after him or someone else.

But guess what, we're awful. Truly Smith/Walker days of awful. So you get someone in who'll make sure you don't go down, rebuild some foundations.
we need to think short term right now for sure, at the end of the season I would honestly want walsh, elstone and kenwright out, pay off sam for keeping us up, and lets see if moshiri is actually serious about his ambitions, no chance in hell anyone who has any genuine ambition beyond a quick profit keeps that odious fat leech kenwright around

he will for once in his entire managerial career, have some real money to spend on transfer targets, and not just rely on bargain basement out of contract players and loans.

will be interesting to see who he goes for with a bit of cash.
This is exactly what I’ve been saying he will be sound for us I’m sure of it

What the **** do you know about me and my status as a fan. All my post says is that I, unlike some, have morality. Just like I won't go to a country that has the death penalty (because I don't agree with it) I won't attend games, for which I already have a season ticket, if that big lump of cheating monstrosity comes to my club. Oh yeah, a shareholder, a season ticket holder, a club member ...... apparently a worthless fan.

Well said....

I was laughing to myself the other day in the car when I heard him on the radio spitting his dummy out slightly saying we'd took to long to get back to him so he has had to withdraw his interest (publicly) It's now even funnier (I've got to laugh or I'd cry) that we have to creep up to him and open talks again. This has the new Ev stamped all over it.

We're not in the bottom 3 mate ffs

Only because of a penalty miss.

Have you watched our last two games, we lost 9-2 on aggregate, and i'm not having the Atalanta doesn't count, ALL games count.

We are a mess, a shambles, a sinking ship.

We are only as good as our last game, a 4-1 defeat against a team that, until we rolled into town, had only scored 4 home goals all season.

FFS, we made Southampton look like Real Madrid.

It has to stop and it has to stop NOW.

No, Allerdyce is not my choice either, but, in our situation, what the hell is the alternative?

Really, work for the club as well?? You don’t know who we’ve approached or what the plan is.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy Fat Sam and his beautiful football, while him and Steve Walsh enjoy a pie and a pint of IPA

To be quite honest he wouldn't be my first choice. However I can see the utter turmoil we are in right now & it isn't going to be getting any better any time soon. We need to stop conceding 3,4,5 goals a game, and get back to basics. Allardyce is capable of this.

Stop being argumentative for the sake of it. We are in big trouble.

6 weeks have passed since sacking Koeman. No i don't work for the club, but you don't have to be an employee to know that who ever might of been out 1st, 2nd priorities CLEARLY are not interested otherwise they'd be in charge by now!

I get why some people think that but from the other point of view there's not much you can do if the targets\clubs you want the manager from reject your approaches.

It's catch 22, they go for hard targets and don't get them "they're incompetent", go for easier targets "they're not showing enough ambition".

Know what you're saying mate, but after just over 5 weeks we've ended up with one of those easier targets that's not showing enough ambition, and to make matters worse, Allardyce now holds all the cards in the negotiations. (That phone call to Allardyce must have been embarrassing for whoever had to do it.)

At the end of the day though, until he's standing there, scarf held above head, it hasn't happened.
