Everton should pay fans to attend matches

Legend Barry Horne

Player Valuation: £6m
EFC match day income is reported to only be in the region of c.£0.5m (https://sqaf.club/premier-league-clubs-matchday-income/). Say with league plus cup games being around 25 home games a season at the most, that's less than £12.5m annual revenue. Given the amount that is spent on players etc, this match day income is dwarfed by other income sources - e.g. from the owner

At the moment, many fans are very negative, feel the club owes them something etc, which is part of the problem we currently have, as the negativity created by those sitting around the pitch helps drain player confidence. Fans feel entitled to do this though, in part because they pay to attend games

If fans (or perhaps a core of fans) were instead paid, they might start to feel more responsibility to positively contribute to the EFC environment and the success of the club, which could make all the difference....

It's a nonsense headline mate but you've got a bit of a point in that apathy is an issue.

We have too many season ticket holders. Said it for years on here - it's counter productive. There's a reason the 'top' clubs cap their season ticket numbers.
GOT needs more clickbait mate

Head to the transfer thread, you won’t BELIEVE who’s just been linked ???

Spot on - if all the seats are paid for - Fans have paid in advance - in my day we voted with our feet - if we were playing dross as we are now - but I did go to games when we were in the bottom 8 & watch the masterful HK as a player keep us up virtually single handed - it was a pleasure to see such a class player HK really was in then a poor blues team -

I think the point is trying to find a solution to the fan problem - can you think of any other ways to improve things?

Something needs to change. Dyche is right in asking fans to align around the goals of the club

Managers in general pander to the fans because they pay to watch matches etc, but this doesn't tackle the problem and so we go from manager to manager with same types of situations developing...

May I have two for Arsenal for the rest of the season please? If they wrap it up it'll be a fair change and if they blow it the place will feel like Goodison anyhow. Think of it like ringside for Frazier Ali.
Second choice, Brighton, summers coming and I can top up my tan. They also operate super efficient and Davey Weir is there so they can't be all that bad.

Cheers.

How much are they offering?
£30 per game

The only conditions are that fans paid to attend can encourage the team and show resilience through difficult runs

As a bonus, fans paid to attend will also be able to visit the training ground, to help build empathy and understanding re the team, its activities and the reality of the challenge of premier league football

Not sure that appeals to the economics argument but hey ho

Yes completely agreed.

I guess put another way, it's whether it would benefit the team's performances to forgo the £12.5m in gate receipts, in order to improve the environment for the team and players, and hence results?

Paid fans could then help build up the core of something new, with a much more constructive approach

Something has to change, right? Any other ideas?
