Everton should pay fans to attend matches

They probably can't afford to because everything is going towards paying off FFP debt and the stadium.
Yes - probably ?

So stuck with the 'fans'

Although, if jettisoning the current fan base would keep the club up, maybe the Gordon £40m could be used to cover the next 3 seasons of gate receipts, rather than buying a new player

The positive impact on performance of not having the current fans could be far greater than the effect of one new player

EFC match day income is reported to only be in the region of c.£0.5m (https://sqaf.club/premier-league-clubs-matchday-income/). Say with league plus cup games being around 25 home games a season at the most, that's less than £12.5m annual revenue. Given the amount that is spent on players etc, this match day income is dwarfed by other income sources - e.g. from the owner

At the moment, many fans are very negative, feel the club owes them something etc, which is part of the problem we currently have, as the negativity created by those sitting around the pitch helps drain player confidence. Fans feel entitled to do this though, in part because they pay to attend games

If fans (or perhaps a core of fans) were instead paid, they might start to feel more responsibility to positively contribute to the EFC environment and the success of the club, which could make all the difference....
Only thing dafter than this would be to suggest a 10% season ticket price increase to watch Championship football.

I guess put another way, it's whether it would benefit the team's performances to forgo the £12.5m in gate receipts, in order to improve the environment for the team and players, and hence results?

Paid fans could then help build up the core of something new, with a much more constructive approach

Something has to change, right? Any other ideas?

It's a novel idea for sure!

Just trying to think of ways to solve the problems the club has had over the last few years

No one is directly tackling the fan issue

Dyche has maybe come closest in his initial statements, acknowledging the fan problem and encouraging all to pull together. Bilic is right in what he says (https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...slaven-bilic-everton-fans-atmosphere-26095735)

This toxic culture means the club isn't currently equipped to ride out difficult runs, which it will probably need to to ultimately reach some stability

I was genuinely going to write a letter asking for a refund on my season ticket cause it’s a disgrace we’re paying to watch what we have so far this season.

Why not do it?

If people don't want to be there it will probably help the club for them not to be there as they won't be coming with the right mindset

Before a ball gets kicked in any season you have the chance that your team will finish first, get relegated or most likely somewhere in between. I’ve been lucky enough in my 62 years to see only 2 of them. The sense of entitlement of some is bewildering.

The fans are genuinely supportive of the players, we still backed Lampard despite the horrible run, it's the board that doesn't deserve our support, how can you say with a straight face that they do?
And do you think the fans could improve in any dimension?

Is it right that all other stakeholders come under great scrutiny for their contribution and the fans don't?

Do you think there's an elephant in the room here?
